Hey all. My name's Mike, I'm 23 years old and 5'7" and 165 lbs. I work out usually 4 times a week (weights, punching bag, and sprints), and I'm joining the forum so I can learn how to maximize my workouts and learn some new techniques.

I've been doing the same workout routine for 5 months now, and finally reached my goal the other day of doing flat bench with 100 lb dumbbells for three sets. I realized my gains slowed in the past 6-8 weeks though, and I know i need to give my workout routine an overhaul. I came here so I can learn new exercises and more about nutrition.

I look forward to learning a lot from the people on these boards.

-Mike

Hey everyone, just joined the forums and thought I would drop a line. My name is Julien and I'm 19 years old and over the last year I have gained 45 pounds, going from 140 lbs to 185 lbs.

I've recently started a website http://www.building-muscle-guide.com which contains a lot of useful information related to gaining weight and building muscle.

I look forward to interacting with you all on what seems like a great forum board.

Hi guys, Im new to  DB. Im a 43 y/o FF/PM, powerlifter for the past 7 years, and have  competed 4 times and placed 5th each time at the viking open powerlifting meet. Im currently inrolled in HAPKIDO and i really enjoy it. The cardio part is kick ass. Im looking foward to hearing from you guys. I want to improve my endurance, become more solid ,  learn about eating clean-well i have a good ideal about that already :) its the midnight snaking is what kills me. Bottom line i want to be in the best shape ever as i go on this train of life and age. I think i look good and i feel good but i want more. U hear me!  So that being said, let's do this. Im willing for open suggestions , person that know what there talking about.  One thing I do know, it's training smarter  as you get older- I admit i dont always do that. you get into the zone and you what happen. We all be there. So, thanks for allowing me to be hear.

Hi I am no spring chicken but I feel like one, lol. I have always been very athletic and lead a fit life style. Something happened in my life and I started to get chunky even though I did weights and aerobics. Worked out twice a day. Every day. I lately found out I also have hypothyroidism. Slow thyroid. It succksss. But I have it under control and am getting a blood test every 5 weeks. I am taking levoxyl because synthroid wasn't doing squat for me. I really want to be a female body builder and I will do anything and everything to achieve my goals. Does anyone have any pointers? I do have a nice muscle base. arms and legs. My big problem was my mid section but I went through lypo/radio sculpting for 6 weeks and I am good as new. I need to see some results to feel encouraged. If I don't see any thing happening no matter how long and how hard I workout I sort of get sad and feel like throwing in the towel. I don't give up how ever I am a taurus a stubborn Polack too, lol. Please someone help. I am not just some dodo, I really mean it. I want this more than  anything, I will do it at ANY cost. Help. Grace (aka Tall Sxy "Muscle" Gazelle the gorgeous musle yet to come...lol)

Hi All. I'm 32, 6ft and weigh about 195. Have been the gym on and off a few times over the years but i am now trying to get into it for real. I have one grown up kid and triplets age 3. I try to get the gym 4 times a week and work all body parts at least once.

Been going now for about 5 months with the below results( i know, not very good, YET!)

Bench BB = 145lbs
Squat = 285lbs

I'm taking - 2/3 protein shakes a day, Bcca tabs, Glut tabs and was on NO-xplode but found that the effects wear off after the first half dozen hits.

Any advice would be great from ALLSmile

Whoa whoa whoa.. I kind of just got so excited I didn't really take the time to properly introduce myself.  I was just so pumped to find this site :)  So sorry about that, and here we go...

So I started lifting weights when I was about 17-18.  I didn't really know what I was doing and just lifted weights here and there (never did legs. oops.)  On and off I lifted, nothing too serious and I have never been conscious about what my diet was.  I was living in Philadelphia while attending college when I became friends with some big boys.  I got a little more serious about trying to get stronger and started lifting with them.  It led me to this really ratty gym in a run down area.  It was seriously the best thing to happen to me.  Everyone in the gym was serious about lifting, very friendly/informative and the over feel of the gym was "go hard or go home".  I remember that the walls had signs that said "no talking, we are just here for the reps" haha.  of course people talked, I just thought it was hilarious.

Fast forward about a year and I'm back in Maryland.  I've finally started doing research and am serious about getting strong.  I have been lifting religiously for about 2 months now and am definitely seeing some results/gains.  I have shed my immature thoughts about lifting as heavy as I can without regard to form or working out all of my muscles.  I started back fresh, I focus on my form and am doing the whole body now.  I used to really love chest day but now I look forward to lifting in general.

I quit the gym and lift at home now.  I have 2 benches(one in the garage, one in the basement for pops), a squat rack, dumbells and a pullup bar. I finally convinced pops to lift too so I try to help out where I can.  Right now I'm trying to bulk for the first time, I'm looking to try a cutting phase around april.  I'm lifting because I want to be strong right now.  In the near future I'm trying to get back into martial arts (right now it looks like brazilian jujitsu) so I'll make adjustments to the workout when I get there.  I love lifting, I love the feeling I get from it and the rewards it brings.

discussbodybuilding.com is awesome.  I've definitely learned a lot already and hopefully I'll be able to give back some.
Its drilled in my brain now, great form is king, eat big/get big, and consistency.

Hey all, introducing myself here.

I've been consistently lifting 2 or 3 times per week for about 9 months now, fully body workouts for the most part.  I'm 26, male, 240# with a gut.  I actually gained 25# since I began working out, without my pants getting tighter but their not any looser either.
I'm not really looking to thin out and find my 6 pack though.
I've been lifting in the 8-12 rep range but I'm starting a new strenth program on Monday and will focus on 6-8 reps of my strongest compound exercises.  I workout alone in my garage so I can't go too heavy.  Also, I don't have a proper squatting equipment so I do high rep squats and jump squats instead.

Edit:  forgot to mention I'm 5'9" too, luckily I have broad shoulders so nobody realizes how heavy I am.

Howdy all!   I'm 41 and have been lifting for a long time.  5 foot 10 weighing 198, benching 265 not sure on the body fat at this time.  I'm sure I'm in the 17% range.  Goal is to drop the body fat into the lower teens over the next 4 months.  I work out 4 days on one day off hitting all body parts over the 4 day period.  Plan is to increase cardio with early AM work outs rotating 20-30 min cardio with ABs.  Late Morning I lift for 45min to 1 hour.  What I need help with is the suppliments.  N.O Explode, Cell Mass, Syntha 6, along with BCAA (4), Carnitine(3)  ZMA (1)  Fish Oil (2) and Green Tea (2).  Interested in the NITREX.  I need to do more research to see if I'm taking the right stuff at the right time.  Good Luck to all Viking
