Hi, I am mark. i go to Oklahoma State. I am 6' 4", and 175lbs. I used to run XC in highschool, and i tried to keep up the endurance part but couldnt. I am now trying to add enough muscle to have some defintion, without effecting my running. I am very busy with school and family. I dont want to make a whole new thread so i will post my question on this. Should i focus on Muscle gain, and not worry about the fat gain that comes with it, and then later try and get cut, or should i try to gain muscle, and just step up the cardio?

Hi Everyone. I'm 53 (OMG!!!!..., no, just kidding), married and finishing a PhD. While not new to Body Building and Weight Training I am in the process of re-building myself, so to speak. In 2004 - two weeks before Christmas, I had a big-time heart attack. Fortunately, my better half got two asiprins in me when I started showing NONE of the traditional heart attack symptoms and called 911. After bypass surgery and recovery I'd lost around 48 pounds (243 down to 195). I'll admit, that though I had worked out in the gym, and jogged I was carrying waaaaayy too much weight for my 6'0" frame. Since then, I changed my diet, started rowing and hitting the weights once more. I'm down to 185, but I'd like to chisle some more body fat away. Got two nice scars, but fortunately no damage to my heart, thanks to my wife's speedy action and the EMT who gave an anti-clotting medication intended for stroke victims. I lift three times aweek, and row away on the Concept 2 rowing machine 3 times per week. I average 12-15 kilometers per session and have rowed three full marathons - 42.195 kilometers each. I love fenceing (foil and sabre, not stolen cars and DVD players); am considered pretty good in the kitchen; read rather than watch TV - but I'm a sucker for "Heroes" and "Burn Notice"; and work with a heart disease/heart attack support group helping heart patients and their families cope with life after heart surgery. Scariest thing I've come across - beside the baked chicken they served me while I was in cardiac recovery - people in their late 20's and early 30's getting stent implants, angioplasties and bypasses. I'm in better shape than I ever was in college, and sadly, I am in far better shape than many of the teenagers and young adults I see in my neighborhood. The rebuilding process goes on - hard physical activity is not just a means of staying in shape, it's a renewal process - mind, body and spirit. You look at the world differently after a heart attack, and believe me...unless you're certifiable, you never take your body for granted afterwards. Looking forward to contributing to the group and exchanging ideas. And now I'll shut up Cheers, Steve

Hello everyone, my name is Chris. I am 22 years old, and go to school full time/work full time. I came to this site as a way to get advice that could genuinely help... as most of the talk in gyms and by friends is BS! I was always really skinny, and just started working out a few months ago. My goal is to hit about 210 lbs by the time I hit 25... is this realistic =-) ? Currently I am: 6', 182 lbs, waist size 32. Max weights: Flat Bench: 195 lbs Deadlift: 190 lbs (Never really worked my legs!) Squats: Never attempted 1RM, done 150lbs x 8

I'm a 57 year old man, not new to bodybuilding, but coming back after a too-long lay-off. Even after a quick browse, the information and the support has already got me primed to get serious again. Thanks for letting me join. Tim Kotora Brentwood TN

Kev, 26 from the land down under. After a long lay off I am back into it. After stacking on a few extra kg I have trimmed off a fair bit of fat lately and am now looking at increasing strength and muscle. Still have a bit of fat I am trying to burn off at the same time. So I know my weight will plateau a bit now as the fatt I lose will be offset by the muscle I gain. As long as the tone comes with the plateau I am a happy camper. Currently: 181cm, 84kg.

hello. I am from Camden, NJ and I am really just trying to find as much information and assistance that i can. I weigh around 320 and I am 6'3". I really am trying to lose a lot of weight but i want to be really toned. I know it will be hard, so i need whatever help i can get. I used to workout before, on numerous occasions. But i always stopped. Now, because this is the heaviest i've been, i started to get random pains associated with my weight. At 29, i realized that now i need to stay motivated so that i can be able to play with my kids(which i dont have yet) when i get older. I look forward to being a part of this. Thanks

hey everybody. I'm a 53 yo male who wants to change his life and get a new body. I'm 5-11; 200 pounds; and have put a lot of weight onto my middle. I've half-heartedly worked out here and there; but cant stay with it longer than a couple months. I'm hoping to get some motivation here to become addicted to the gym. so; any and all advice will be apreciated. I'm trying to post some pics in critique my physic section; can't quite figure it out. I'd be happy to email my pics though to anyone who'd like to critique / advize. thanks, John

hey whats up everyone. Iv been liftin for about 4 years now. i started out with taekwondo. i wanted to get in shape for my tournaments. and that first day after the gym i had a rediculous pump. i was hooked. i still do taekwondo and i fight at a weight klass of 170. so when i lift i dont do it to get big. i just wanna get as big as possible but stay at 170 pounds lol. basically a lot of supersets and drop sets for that muscle endurance. i also do kardio everyday. which keeps my weight down. my ultimate goal is basically to become insanely shredded. i alot of NO and fat burners and whey. i used creatine once...and i got huge.i think im starting to hit a platue though. not much improvement lately but im hopin with this atro-phex i just ordered will shed some light on my routines. im one of those mesomorphes. if you've ever heared of julien greaux, one of the BSN athletes, i wanna be like him. kut up. ill post some pics of me when i get around to it. my only weakness when it komes to bodybuilding is my God forsaken sweet tooth! yeah, the worst problem ever, i know. but a twix bar about twice a month isnt so bad is it!? lol acctually i follow a very very strict diet. its fun to me. alot of people think im krazy for only doin kutting techniques...but its what i like. i have one week once a month where i do heavy weight just so i stay at 170 lbs. like 3x8 instead of 5x12-15 but i absolutly love the bodybuilding life and i look forward to sharing info and knowledge with the rest of the forum!
