my names ed, im 19, college student...been trying to bulk up over the summer (reverse from usual i know haha)...im 5'9 147 now, started summer at 138, so im up about 9 lbs in about 9 weeks...looking to get to about 155 then cut a bit, before bulking again over the winter and then cutting down for next summer...ive been lifting for 2 years, somewhat serious for 1 year, and just since mid may very serious...ive seen good results so far and expect even better results once im back at school...will be in control of meals, etc. and can really nail the nutritional aspect as well as the opportunities i have with really good gyms at school... i love learning, especially about nutrition and exercise, so i intend to become pretty frequent on the boards, with asking questions and answering questions that i can answer

62 year old male. I have been kicking around the fitness thing since 1971, and, after retirement, started writing about it. Have several articles out there and am hoping to pick up some tips and info, and maybe share a little. Have recently decided that I have fallen behind, so I have dusted off the dumbbells and am back at it.

Hey Guys, Well my real name is Sam, but for some reason I chose Fernando, Sam might have been tooken idk. Anyway, I'm 17 years old, senior in high school, and I've really always been interested in bulking up and really trying to achieve the body I'd like. I've always been active in sports, and I've tried off season workouts with the school programs, but until now I've never really wised up and looked into the things that are required for gaining muscle and size. I've currently been seriously working out for about two months now, and unfortunately I've within the last month I've started trying to get the nutrition part of it down. I'm in a fit condition, but really Im looking for strength and size for this up coming year. I'm 6' about 155Ibs, ecto bodytype, and a pretty high metabolism which has made bulking a difficult task for me. I'd say my bodyfat is 10% however it could be lower (been awhile since I've used calipers.) I'm not really looking to get in to bodybuilding, but I do believe that if I'm trying to find a serious approach to gaining size and strength, from what I've read I think you guys seem to know how to help me out with it. Annyway, yea I thought I'd say hey and give some background info on myself.

Hi all!!! Never really been too good at introductions so I'll keep it short and sweet. I heard about the site through my husband who is an avid reader (and poster) and I have say, through all the research I've done on the site thus far it's very impressive. Thought it was time to officially come out of the closet and join the discussions. I am a 30 year old mother of 2 who it trying really hard to get my 20 year old (pre child # 2 and pre hystorectomy) body back. I can tell you one thing, positive outlook and positive attitude will take you a long way on this journey, However, a willingness to listen (or read) and to learn will take you the rest of the way. Thank you guys!!!!

Im 17, looking into the whole gain muscle/loose weight thing. Last year (summer of '06) I weighed in at 185 and was about 5'10. Starting in September of 06 I ventured out on a new diet/nurition plan. Since then I have not eaten any type of fast food. I have not consumed any type of (carbonated drink) and soda (with the exception of Seltzer water which is carbonated). Stopped eating junk food. In September I began an extensive cardio routine which conisisted of a 2.5-3.0 mile run, everday, 6 days out of the week. Since about springtime I cut it down to two miles everyday, due to the fact that 2.5-3.0 miles of cardio would begin interfering with my muscle gain routine. 1 year later, no supplements, no pills, I have lost over 40lbs. Currently weigh in at 145-150 lbs at 5'11. Only problem is that I dont look 150. My body % is not where I want it to be and I still look "fat" even though my BMI is in the "normal" range. Before I began the cardio program, I lifted and put up respectable numbers...but since I began running I stopped lifting. Now at 145 im ready to bulk up. Obvisouly my numbers in the lifting arena have dropped... I plan on taking supplements soon and hope to get to 165+ by next year....looking for that 50/50 balance between cut/strength. This forum is amazing with the articles and information....if only I had discovered it earlier.

Eat breakfast(2 bowls of mini-wheats) Go bike riding for 30mins Come back home do other stuff Lift 2 8 pound weights for 15 mins at 11:00 AM Eat Lunch(usually a sandwhich) Go jogging for an hour Do some other stuff At 5 PM i can go swimming laps at the Y for 30mins Eat dinner(can be anything) At 7 Pm repeat the lifting do other stuff fall asleep sometime between 11 and 12... I came because a friend who also wanted to just be a lilttle bit healthier recommended me to go look for a forum where I could get help... Thanks! excuse my english(not native)

Looking forward to your future reports and hearing what you tried out. leaning and bf has a lot to do with food plan though. A list of a few days of foods and I bet we can find some changes you can make to get your bodyfat down. Linda

My name is Chuck. Im 20 yrs old and I only weight ...sadly... 98 Pounds. I have this fast metabolism, and it has yet to slowdown. I really wanna gain some weight and muscle, not only for appearance, but i feel my weight is starting to make me sick. I don't have any eatting disorders. But by the end of the year i want to at least gain 50-60 pounds. Anything to put me in the correct weight charts. What i really wanna do is enter an athletic professional sport. I know its silly but id shoot for wrestling. ( WWE would be awesome but not exactly ) Im sick and tired of the way i look, and i have no idea on how to start working on my boney weakened body. I feel a change is defentaly needed or ill be going down a bad downward spiral in my health. So i hope the community on here can help me get on a routine or give me some idea on what i can do to change myself.

Hi, My name's Russ and I've been working out and interested in fitness from the time I was in the Army back in 1986-1990. I then worked at Bally's for awhile as a fitness instructor. I've had a lot of trouble staying steady in my workouts and have fallen off the wagon more time than I can count. I've tried BFL, Body RX, Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle and now I am currently doing the Optimum Anabolics program by Jeff Anderson. All I can say is WOW! This program is kicking my ass! I'm in my 3rd week and I think I may try to start a journal on here but may have to start it at my current point in the program. I read both Marc's and Naviator's journals and was truly inspired to keep at it. While I am not nearly close to their impressive figures(being over 30% BF), I hope to one day get to where they are in size. I told Jeff today during the Webinar on MNU that I want to be in one of his before and after photos to inspire others. Anyway, look forward to chatting with you all.

Hi all! I am male, 30 years old, and can't wait to get this weight off. I never had a great physique, but hopefully with more exercising, dieting, reading and getting advice from everyone on this site, I will make it happen. I've always dreamed of having a 6 pack, or 8 pack, but too much drinking beer (everyone does that) and too much eating always slowed me down. I recently joined the gym, and bought some supplements and protein shakes, play basketball and go spinning, hopefully I will show some progress and share it with all of you. 5'9" 205 lbs (more fat, than muscle)

Hey, I'm new... 25 yo. male. 6ft1. 210 lbs. 36 w. Goals: To get muscular/cut, duh! :) I'd like to start exercising more, potentially begin running, and get to 175. I'm really in the first moves. Just began changing my diet. I cut out soda and sweets. Been eating healthier, more fruits and vegetables. Adding flaxmeal. Eating fish, chicken breasts, soy milk. Would love encouragement through the process. Hopefully, I'll get a new me. Or at least a physically improved one. Reasons: Was tired of feeling unhappy about the way I look. Getting exhausted by climbing up the three flights of stairs at work.... eating fast food and pizza so much... just sick of it. I used to be 155 - 165 through most of my post-puberty days... hit 23 yo and started tubbing up to 223. With dieting and walking, I've already went to 210. Work in progress. Figured it would be better to start at 25 than 45. Would like to know what a good goal weight is to get to before bulking back up with muscles.

whats up guys? im new to the forum and thought it would be a great idea for me to introduce myself. my name is rex, im 25 y/o and im from atlanta, ga. i work as a csi, im 6 feet tall and weigh about 170 pounds. i chose 22 at the end of my handle because thats what number i was in 3 years of high school football as i played qb my senior year. i have not lifted weights since then. during that time my lifts where: squat, 315...deadlift, 365...bench press, 225...standing military press, 150. im planning to just kind of build some muscle and perhaps tone up a little bit. anyway i plan on sticking around about as long as u guys will have me so get used to seeing me . my goals by the way are just to regain my lifts from high school, maybe up my bench press a little bit i didnt worry about it very much back then as i always gave squats and deadlifts, particuarly deadlifts, my full attention.

Hi. Just introducing myself. My name is Brad. I live in Ft. Collins, Colorado. 6'0, 200 pounds. I work as a K-12 school administrator and am working on my PhD so I can teach at the university level. I've been working out just at a year. I've come a long way in that time, but I'm still very new and have a lot to learn. My first goal was weight loss, which I've achieved pretty well. Now, I'm a few weeks into my first gaining cycle. Ultimately, I'd like to do an amateur comp in 3 or 4 years, just to try it out and prove to myself that I can do it.

Hi! My name is Joe. I'm 58 years old. I have taught music in schools for 36 years. Four months ago, I stepped into a gym for the first time in my life and began work with a personal trainer. (For me, this was a MAJOR leap of faith.) While not "fat", the girth in my waist had expanded to be nearly the size of my chest. I felt very sluggish. When I tried to jog, I could barely make it for one block. After four months of training, I've lost some inches on my waist and have developed much stronger muscles. Running is now a joy. I have not felt this good in years. I certainly do not "feel" 58. Now that the fitness routine is part of my life, I am concentrating on proper muscle development.
