We get a lot of emails and phone calls asking what teenagers should take. Here are the two categories they fall into: 1.) They want to bulk 2.) They want to lose fat and gain muscle Feel free to post away with recommendations so people know what to do.

yes. i am a 16 year old weightlifter. i take 100% whey protein after each of my workouts and met-rx meal options at night. i hear a lot of talk about creatine, but i am quite skeptical of its results. i personally prefer to take the whey and the met-rx shakes and get as much protein as i can during the day.

Im 15 and have used creatine for about 3 months. I noticed i had more endirance at first then sort of died down. I did get stronger though. I increased my weight on almost everything by atleast 10lbs or so. After I run out of my current powder I am going to stop taking it too see what happens and if my muscles deflate or not.

^^^^^^^^Thanks for the welcome. Also whats CASEIN? I always hear about but im not sure what it is. I think I might start buying glutamine to take but for now I can barely afford protein powders and creatine. How do you guys afford to take that much whey protein through out the day. I take in atleast 160g of protein daily to amintain my muscle but only 50g if from protein powders. I eat tons of chicken daily to get my amount of protein. But right now im in my cutting phase to lose some bf then once I get about 10% im bulking up big time.

casein is just another type of protein, just like whey is milk dirived, so is casein the difference is that way is very solluble and therefore absorbed quickly, conversly casein is not very soluble and therefore not absorbed quickly. Thusly, if taken at night it is used slowly and you get more out of it. also, it helps prevent protein breakdown. as for protein: well i get mine at gnc, and i have a card so i get 30% off, and i buy 5 lbs of it, so its like 20 bucks and last like 3 months so i can make it up quickly. I think i answered it all. Yeah i agree if you dont have the funds stick to the protein, glutamine is good but not necessary. keep the posts coming

I think I might have to go get some Casein. My protein is 47.95 and only lasts me 20 workouts so about a month. But I have tried other powders, quite a few actually, and Isopure zero carb is my fav.

Ok so like im 18 kind of a skinny guy I got fat in unwanted areas. And I also want to build some muscle ive been taking creatine for about 2 weeks. It has given me about maybe 1/2 pound muscle on my. Arms and the creatine has made me stronger but no matter how many reps I do. With weights for my arms they dont get sore they dont hurt . And it seems like I cant build anymore muscle no matter how many reps I do. I want to ditch the creatine and go with something better that will give me everything I need. To help with the muscle building proccess but not sure what the best suppliments are for me since im on a budget. Thanks for your time and help!!!

hey davehiya, welcome to db! well you situation is complex. I dont think the problem lies with the creatine, i think it may be your work out program. First of all do you lift at your house or in a gym? And if you lift at your house what kind of equipment do you have?

Hello davehiya Welcome To DB! quote:
Arms and the creatine has made me stronger but no matter how many reps I do. With weights for my arms they dont get sore they dont hurt Soreness or pain do not determine muscle growth. I believe if you wanna bulk up maybe you can give max-ot a try the first post under the training section. Also remember the only way to increase your arms or any other muscle is by overload. Like Arnold says the only time muscle builds is when your in your final 2-3 reps and the pain makes you wanna quit but you go on no matter what. So if you feel your completing your sets with no strain or pain felt (this is only while your lifting) at that moment it means the weight is too light. Also do read the sample bulking up plan written by MDA. Remember muscles dont build overnight i've been training for a month my arms may have a increased a little bit but nothing happens fast. There are no miiracle supplements basically you can take protein, creatine and multi vitamins. These are not half as important as nutrition. Creatine is a supplement dont expect too much from it, in due time you will see your results. Eat right, train hard and sleep well and wait for 3 months to judge your results.

its better to get nutrition constantly throughout the day, maybe like 5-6 meals instead of 3. interestingly, if you look at our closet relatives (the chimps and apes) they eat constantly through out the day, but the problem is with our advanced culture we can eat anything we want whenever we want so we tend to gain weight more easily. whereas if you had to kill every cow you ate, you know, you wouldn't eat so much red meat and you'ld be burning a lot of calories bringing old bessie down... but anyways enough ranting. o and your most welcome! feel free to explore the other parts of the site theres a lot of useful infor for you, and if you have any questions feel free to post away!

Well it hasn't been a full week yet but my progress is going very well. I did what you reccomended Fossils and pushed myself the hardest. To do lift more when i can berly stand the pain anymore and it works great. I've been bench pressing around 45 pounds before i was only able to do 2 sets of 20. With a 3-4 minutes break in between sets but for the past four days. Of pushing myself the hardest i can now do 2 sets of 34 with with only 2 mintues rest. Arnold was right that extra bit really does build muscle. I'm very surprised how such a small amount can do so much. Btw:I'm going to be resting tommorrow and get 1 full days rest but is that enough ? I want to give my muscles enough time to heal and build but is there a way to tell how much rest I should be getting?

Its great to see your progressing and doing great quote:

Of pushing myself the hardest i can now do 2 sets of 34 with with only 2 mintues rest. Is your goal to bulk up or increase strength and tone up? Cuz if im not msitaken your following the MAX-Ot plan which states 4-6 reps and not 34? 34 is a lot you can increase the weight and do shorter reps. Remember muscle build by overload not by 500 reps that only makes you sore and increase strength excellent for atheletes. So anyways if your goal isnt to be an athelete lift a weight with which you can do 4 reps but no more than 6 reps per set. Read the max-ot again thoroughly and keep it up!
