due to recent stressful work, and forced travel, i have only worked out once since last wednesday.  That was yesterday and once again, i was pressed for time.  The routine went like this:

leg press 4x6 @ 470, 2x6 @ 500!!!!!
           1x20 @ 230
Squat     6x6 @ 225
           1x20 @ 135
lying leg curls 5x8 @ 110

my legs don't hurt so much, since i skipped extensions.

On the interview:  It didn't go splendidly, but didn't go poorly.  its tough to convey your interest and excitement about somebody's company over the phone.  Hopefully they liked me.

Today:  I have an interview with the Arcadia Brewing Company, so i'm all snazzed up and have 8 homebrews sitting in my car for them to try at my interview.  Its strange, going to an interview where the main topic will be beer, that and they want to drink my beer.  I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for good money.

i also shaved my incredible beard, and at the midpoint, it looked something like this:

Interview today:  went really well.  the question is, is the pay cut worth a job in the brewing industry?  i'm inclined to say yes.  They left it in my hands... do i want the job?  Taking the job means no more lifting for lack of funds... which bites, but if its got to be that way, so it goes...

i've got a lot to pontificate upon in the upcoming days...

Well keep us posted.

BTW, even if you can't afford a gym, there are plenty of bodyweight routines that are effective, and can help you de-fattify yourself (so we're no anticipating you stopping to workout or leave the boards!).

that was an impressive beard btw--but good move to shave it for the interviews!Smile

ha ha.  that was the halfway point.  it went from full beard, to that.  I keep wondering if i should have kept it, i think the brewery i interviewed at would have dug it.

Question of the hour:  What am i worth (salary-wise) to a brewery?  and, what can i live on?

Yesterday:

medium-grip pull downs:  6x6 @ 175, 1x20 @ 100
One arm dumbell rows:  3x6 @ 50, 3x6 @ 55, 1x20 @ 45
Deadlifts:  6x6 @ 245, 1x30 @ 135
concentration curls: 4x10 @ 20

still haven't decided if i should take this job with the brewery.

I have been extremely short on time lately, which is a shame.  i devoted 3 solid weeks to the widowmaker, it kicked my ass, and i can't seem to get through week 4. (which technically should have been last week.)  Anyway, in lieu of lifting since i had no time yesterday, i went for a run since i purchased a new mp3 player a few days ago.  5 k run, not bad, not a cake walk.  i need to get back up to 10k's daily.  then again, i need someone to run with.

I heard from my absolute #1 choice of breweries to work at... and they said, "you're our #2 choice... sorry."  After a long conversation about how much they enjoyed interviewing me, and how i should be proud that i beat out about 30 candidates with a buttload of commercial experience yet i have none, i was #2.  So, if #1 doesn't work out, they'll be calling me.  Bummer.

I need to talk to the other brewery i've been talking to again now.  See if they still want me.

#2 is great. Often the seconds become firsts. Excellent that you made great impressions--that will help in the future, especially if they--or their colleagues--get in a bind.

I keep a stack of resumes in my files of excellent people just in case we run into a situation. I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Thanks for your vote of confidence.  The nice thing about being rejected by them, and me having to continue talks with another brewery, is finding out the other brewery will pay next to nothing to start ($8/hr).  Which i can't take that kind of pay cut.  so, i'll still be going to a gym because i will have enough money.  So, the job hunt will continue...

I'm gonna stick with my Co-Op working for a pharmaceutical giant for a while longer, i've got 6 months 'til they give me the boot. So, no luck.  I told the 2nd brewery i interviewed with i couldn't work for 8$ an hour.  i could make (much) better money waiting tables, and i suck at that.  i'm not working anywhere for less than 12 bucks an hour unless its a part-time job on top of a career.

I'm really thinking hard about maybe getting a CSCS and being a personal trainer.  Give danmirage a run for his money.

I've been lame on the lifting side.  But i've run a few miles every day this week since it started to get nice out.

I think vegetarianism is paying off.  i think i'm losing weight.
