im not dead, just busy, will be gone another 1-2 weeks maybe popping in every now and then.

BW after flu went down to 144lbs (my scales are making me 4lbs heavier, so il just deduct 4lbs off them whenever i use them now, used 3 different scales and all showed me as 144lbs ish.

Im back to 153lbs now, and training the way youre telling me dan, feeling fit as ever and no cortisol pumps or any fatigue or tiredness, just good old fashioned soreness lol.

Im starting to get giving up vibes again.
Im also upping my calories by 1000, **** the whole nutrition needs to be balanced, il shove down 500 calories of carbs and 500 calories of protein extra.

First and foremost, just keep training.  The health benefits alone are reason enough.

Don't get discouraged!  60% of people worldwide wish they had your genetics!!!

Now, you want optimal muscle mass...it I am right?

You may have a pre-ponderance of Type I Oxidative muscle fiber.  All that means is that you have to make sure you support hypertrophy for all muscle fiber types...thoughtfully

At the same time you need to understand that overfeeding (adding 1000) calories is going to cause an overcompensation in TSH release and a metabolism spike.  Always add calories slowly for the greatest effect.  When you do ad calories...be sure that 30% of them are good fats!!

I would guess you are just coming back up and normalizing from the sickness and etc.

THere are so many variations in parameters that you could either respond to or not respond to...finding what suits your unique genetics should be the goal for a while.

What type of training have you found the greatest results and the most enjoyment from?

Some guy in powerlifting and strength managed 2 reps of 340lbs and a 405lbs max bench, and weighs in at 170lbs, and trains on chest everyday.

My chest doesn't respond to anything, low reps, high reps, negatives, dumbells, flys, anything, it just flutters around the 38-39" mark and my bench stays the same or gets worse Smile

I've got a very expensive years membership so i wont give up, but if i have made crap gains by july when my membership runs out im quitting...again.

How am i meant to do that?

Meh...How many calories should i add?

As to what my body genetically responds to...Never really found out, my gains have always been slow compared to everyone elses here (apart from veg's)
I got good results from the 5x5 and 8x5x8x5x8 but that was strength not size.

I wish i was one of them people who just lift a dumbell and grow 5lbs everyday Smile

No im pretty much untouchable in my college by teachers, i cant actually tell you the exact reason because it would breach the deal lol.

Basically i was a mess aged 15/16 taking my GCSE's and didnt really care, i only passed science and maths because i was just naturally talented in them subjects, and was made to take a GNVQ before being allowed to take A levels (even though the A levels im taking are sciences, my college suggested me taking up GCSE geography and history to get the 5 GCSE's...why the **** do i need to know where sweden is and what happened to it in 1506 to study science?)
Luckily during my GNVQ year something happened that the college would CERTAINLY not want to be made public, and im the only one who knows about it.

I failed that GNVQ, and basically said "let me do A levels, or im going to the papers about that little mistake you made" by little i mean BIG.

And to this day the teachers know they cant touch me or expel me.
Hell im 19, im not even allowed in there legally right now, they only allow 16-18's, but ive got them wrapped round my lil finger Smile

Its just annoying, anyway, im just going to get the fat whore expelled, because ive got video evidence of her bullying which at my college = instant expulsion.

Shes thick anyway, she thought all molecules are the same size, yet managed to actually get a higher grade than me in one of the chemistry tests (foundation) which specifically teaches about atomic and ionic radius', i have an idea how she passed so well at AS, it doesnt really involve much maths, and if you have enough time, you can parrot learn it all, as its not that hard, even how far how fast you can parrot learn the hess energy systems, as in AS they only go in two directions with 3 arrows maximum.

As to the lifting, and weight drop, my BF% has plummeted, its around the 6.8% region right now, meaning ive lost 1.5lbs of fat (jesus christ, i now have just 10lbs of fat on me)
which accounts to the mass of 149.5lbs, then theres the case that when i weighed myself in-i hadnt eaten in over 6 hours (my diet that day was rubbish) and that old 150-153lbs was weighed in after 2-3 hours eating.

Either way my lats are GROWING good, and my biceps are definitely growing, theyre both nearly 13", which they havent been for like a year now.
My chest is just sitting around as usual.
I've lost a LOT of weight in my legs, i put on a pair of jeans that usually were really tight, and they felt quite comfortable around the leg, and could tell id lost size, and i have lost around 3/4" on my quads, i would be annoyed by this, but my strength appears to not have been affected too much, so im not that bothered.

The only reason i train legs is because i know that to support a big upper body you need a good core and lower body, and little legs and big chest looks stupid, but i really dont care much for legs and how big they are or how good they look muscle wise, as i HATE wearing shorts, and never show my legs, so as long as they dont look like toothpicks compared to my upper body-i dont care much for them.

Dan-i added a couple hundred of calories via nuts, which are high in protein AND fats, is this good or not?

twistedlink just towards your question about bench press, do you take ages to also increase the weight for your bench? It seems that my chest hasn't grown that much since I first started training in July. My exercises such as bench press, military press, bicep curl take me ages to increase the weight, like 4weeks+.

My benchpress rarely consistently increases.

Its hard to explain but...when i first went to the gym (2 1/2 years ago, maybe a tad more) i was 135-140lbs and my training weight was 90lbs, and my chest was just flat as hell, my chest has grown since then (compared to what it was) and my training weight is now 90lbs.

I did train with 110-120lbs before, but that was with 5 reps, not 10, and i can do 110lbs 5 times now anyway so...

My benchpress weight stays the same no matter what weight i gain, in chest or not, i did manage 155lbs twice when i was 166lbs, thing is, my bench weight increases by less than my weight gained, so as i get bigger, my benchpress is actually comparing to bodyweight-becoming worse.

Military press yes i have trouble increasing on, my shoulders dont really have strength gains or size gains, what are the shoulders anyway? I can feel my traps, my front delts and my rear delts, and the only bit left is right in the middle......where i have bone, and some skin...so...wtf? is the shoulder just a generalised term for deltoid muscles?

Bicep curls will always take ages to increase, unless youre genetically gifted, its because its a little muscle...I mean, i can rep 25lbs dumbells for like 30 reps with great form if i really wanted to, but i cant do 15 reps with 30lbs dumbells, that 5lbs makes a hell of a difference as its such a little muscle.

Everyone has there strong points, mine used to be biceps/triceps size wise now its legs strength wise and everyone has there weak points, mines chest.

Thing is, i still stand by the fact that Bodybuilding is 100% directed by DNA, there are such things as genetic potentials.

A lot of seasoned members here say there arent, and there argument is usually because after 2-3 years, theyre 10-15lbs heavier and loads stronger.

the simple answer is they were on what we call in simple terms, a plateu, and they broke it, they werent at there genetic potential.

DNA processes everything in your body, no matter what stimulus you give it, if the DNA says no, it will not do it, its a blueprint for a reason, if it could be overruled so easily-it wouldnt be part of us.

Either way il be rolling in it when im 30-35 genetics wise, thats when pretty much 95% of the males in my family just randomly pack on 50lbs of muscle in like one year without even doing weights, and in some cases are on office jobs, then they get to age 50 and get fat, but i think thats the beer LOL.

EDIT:A good way to prove this is that smoking and its chemicals gives the body a stimulus for cancer, however sometimes smokers live to 95 and die of simple old age, and dont get cancer, and its because there DNA said "no cancer"

the same is with BBing, its doesnt matter if you shove down 500 grams of protein, if your DNA synthesises too few enzymes to process large amounts of protein and the DNA also codes cells to act less upon the presence of protein, you will not gain weight.

If you think genetics doesnt matter, then there really is no point in having body types.

Body types are there because thats what your DNA is making you as.

Im not saying gaining weight is impossible for ectos, but it is a lot harder, and is impossible to gain large amounts of weight, because if they did manage it, theyre not ectos, theyre mesos.

Thanks. My bench is a mesely 27kg...it takes me like ages to increase. I was actually thinkin of benching 2x a week, but I won't be able to have a spotter if I do that, hence why I actually don't do it. Time will time I guess..

Towards benchpress, i find it damn crazy that your coaches for football load up 225lbs and just tell them to rep it.

My 6'6" 310lbs cant even get that weight off the rack, and neither can i, i can only just get 185lbs off, and when its above my i am using all my strength to keep it up, as soon as i bend my arms to try and rep it, it falls right down, simply cant do it.

Right now my max is 120ish lbs, which for my size i would say is good.
I know people who have been and are in the army for the UK, and they get them maxxing on there bodyweight, which is considered by our army strong.

Yet we have kids here aged 13-14 and havent even gone through any major test boost benching 2.5 times therew BW.

Its just too anomolous.

Either americans have evolved and become genetically 2.5 times stronger than other humans, or its the simple fact that there beef is riddled with anabolic steroids.

I mean, i find it a tad coincidental that the big benchers dose up on meat (primarily beef), and our vegetarian here who weighs 160lbs can squat a good 250lbs, deadlift probably a good 200lbs, but has a comparitively weak bench.

So basically.

one person weighing 160lbs and eats beef-amazing bench
one person weighing 160lbs at very low BF meaning more lean mass actually-under average bench.

I just find it too coincidental, i have said this before, and dont bother repeating myself in other topics, but this is my topic so im saying it now.

I reckon its the cows.

Because ive got some friends to come to this site and read peoples bench maxxes and translated it into kilos, and when i showed them there physical stats, like 5'7" 130lbs benchmax 285lbs

They simply laughed and said "Thats bullshit"

Hell that 6'10" guy at college weighs around 310-320lbs and he maxxes on 135lbs.

The biggest lift ive seen is one rep of 315lbs, and the guy is like 35 years of age, has been training for 18 years, and weighs like 250-260lbs, and the lift wasnt even with good form.

Most of the people at my gym bench lower than there bodyweight for training, and very few max over there bodyweight.

Hell at my college im considered very VERY thin, yet when people see my benching 50kg (110lbs) theyre amazed, and people actually comment on how much i can bench and how im so strong, because they havent been to this site, and the ones who have dont believe 95% of the figures.

Over here 50kg is considered a big lift for anyone weighing between 140-160lbs for training.

I purposefully dont have a spot now, the adrenaline makes me rep 2-3 times more usually.
Thing is, at 27kg, if you fail, just lay it on your chest, but still push enough so it isnt a deadweight on your chest, then tense your abs, roll the bar onto them, sit up, and chuck the weight off.

I do that when i fail on 50kg and 55kg when im trying to max, and i manage to get it off me fine, id never try this with 70kg+.

One thing ive noticed with chest exercises, is that i never feel a tightness or pulling feeling like i do with every other muscle, even when i contract the pecs on the lift and keep them tensed, it just doesnt feel that good.
And when doing flys dont feel a good range.

I love bentover cable flys, as i cross them over, and the middle of my chest feels like its on fire, and the morning after feels pumped and gooood.

It is good if the nuts are fresh.

I was a Vegetarian and ate all organic...I was a bodybuilder and 225 bench was a decent weight...my bodyweight was 145 pounds...no beef for years!

fresh from the processed bag 14 days ago Smile LOL

Yeah theyl be fresh as i can get them.

to the bench, maybe when you did eat beef it affected your genetics somehow, arent steroids still meant to affect your muscle abilities permanently?

I dunno

All i know is that a few big guys roid at my gym, and have huge chests, and they bench less than some 14 year olds here, it just sounds insane.
I also find it worrying how the UK army are weaker than a bunch of kids, if theyre doing the lift properly that is, in out of bounds i posted how these boys were laughing at my weight, and started benching and lowering the bar like 4 inches, and on a smith machine too where i can bench like LOADS more than freeweight.

Imagine if they came on here, they weighed in at 140-155lbs between the 3 of them, and could manage 200lbs each max, if they posted that here, no one would raise an eyebrow, but theyre doing it wrong.

But meh, i just notice a general pattern that the american lifters are stronger than the UK, australian and canadian lifters.
add that to the common and not secret information that americans do inject roids into the cows, i just as a scientists type of brain as the reason behind it.

It is not unreasonable.

I was not very strong when I started at 8...but by 13 I was stronger and by 18 I was a monster.

you started weights at 8??!?!??! Jesus christ no wonder you manage to get such good gains.

I know you get strong people, and they will naturally be able to lift a lot more than other people, but how many 14-16 year olds get chosen for american football and stay on til theyre 18 and can bench 225 god knows how many years? 30-40?

I doubt i could find 3-4 people in my college who could even get that off the rack, and theyre all 16-18.

Just seems VERY prevalent in USA, unless its just that its popular in america and therefore this site attracts the big lifers, whereas over here it is low key and any strong lifters out there just dont know about this site.
