I haven't disappeared, I just haven't felt like writing about what I'm doing.

My weight gain has slowed way down, I've been stuck at about 191 for a while now. I really want to get these last 9 pounds over with so I can start cutting, because I feel pretty fat. I'm eating so much food so often right now. I have 5 big meals, plus a smaller pre-bedtime meal, plus I'm constantly snacking between meals. I can't believe how fast I empty the fridge; I'm shopping for food again every other day.

I've modified my routine a little. For most of my exercises, I've dropped the reps to 10 per set as I've increased the weight. My bench press strength has regressed; my 1RM max is down to around 175-180 again. I somewhat regret choosing this higher rep scheme, but I'm just gonna keep increasing the weight and let the reps come down as they need to. In a few months I'm going to try the Texas method or something similar, because I don't think I'm gonna be able to get much more out of simple linear progression.

My last routine let deadlifts regress somewhat, so I've gone straight to three sets of 5 for those on Saturday to get those back into shape. I'm up to 325 for 3 sets of 5 across right now, which is only about where I was last year.

I've added more work to some of my days because I don't feel like my progress has been that good with this routine. I added 3 sets of 5 reps of flat bench press on Saturday, and 3 set of 5 reps of overhead press on Monday. I'm gonna add something to Thursday's routine too, not sure what yet. I'll probably try dips, but last time I tried to do them I could only do one or two reps with my bodyweight.

My best progress has been with chin-ups. I've been adding weight but the number of reps has been staying the same. Squats have also progressed OK. I'm doing 200 for 3 sets of 10 across. I'm gonna hold the weight there for a few workouts to work out some small form issues, but nothing too serious; depth is still good. I'd also like to improve my rest time between sets, because I still get so winded doing them.

As far as measurements go, I'm only doing them every other week now to avoid frustration. I've haven't gained even half an inch on my arms, which is about half of what I would have hoped for given my weight gain. I'm going to lose half of that when I cut too, but some of my new pants are starting to get tight, so I can't keep this up for too much longer. I would have liked to gain less fat than this, but I guess I'm still a lot thinner than I was the last time I weighed this much.

The good news is that I still feel motivated to work out. A lot of days I feel like putting it off, or skipping a day, but I manage to get myself to do it anyway, and I always feel much better afterwards.

I'm going to have to skip my workout tonight. I seem to have screwed up my right shoulder/neck while cleaning the sink on Tuesday. I was in a fair amount of pain yesterday, but it's a lot better today and my range of motion is back to normal (though not completely comfortable.) It's not serious, but it's also not a joke. While it pains me to miss a workout, I really don't want to aggravate it -- better safe than sorry and all that jazz. It'll be the first workout I'll have skipped (without making up) in a really, really long time. Saturday's workout is still up in the air; I'll have to see how I feel.

I've only got about 5 more pounds to go on this stupid bulk. I'm getting a gut, and I can't wait to get rid of it. I actually feel fairly miserable about how I'm looking a the moment. I expect most of the bulge to go in just a day or two, just dumping the food bulk in my system. I've just got to keep my fingers crossed that when I cut back down I'll still have some gains I'll be happy with.

I did end up taking Saturday off. I'm not 100%, so I did a light-ish workout on Monday.

I'm still not getting the progress I want with chest, though my bench strength is coming along somewhat. I'm gonna add another set to each chest exercise I do.

I'm probably gonna quit bulking a few pounds short of my goal, because I feel so fat. I really can't stand it any more, and can't wait to start cutting.

I did measurements this weekend after skipping it for a few weeks and was pleasantly surprised. My arms are up almost 3/4" since the start of the year. I've also added quite a bit to my chest measurements over the last month or so, though I'd guess that a lot of that is either flab or my lats. My chest doesn't really look that much better. It's not great considering the amount of weight and fat I've added, but I feel better about it than I did a few weeks ago.

The big reason why I am anxious to cut is that my new pants that I got last year either don't fit, or are getting really tight. I'd like to lose an inch or two so I can get back into them and not feel so bloated. But it might not help - some of them are more tight in the legs than they are in the waist. My legs have grown; my left thigh is 25" and the right isn't far behind. It's muscle too - I don't carry much fat in my legs.

I really feel like I've wasted my weight gain on the parts that need it least. Maybe next time I bulk I'll do nothing but curls and bench presses like a n00b.

Anyhow, I'm gonna start cutting as of today. I'm gonna do that for a few weeks and see how it goes. If I drop some bloat quickly and can get back into my new pants, I might resume my bulk and get up to 200 before doing a serious cut. I guess I'll see how it goes. I want a six pack this year, so I'm gonna have to get serious about cutting sometime.
