Today was suppose to be my first workout from the week rest I had, but unfortunately I had to stay at Uni to do my assignment with a friend, so damnit, my diet and workout is going as planned, but then again I got loads of assignments so it's probably best so suffer a few workouts then passing miserably in the assignments.

Is this right or is my mate just bigging himself up? i mean on the tv show neighbours (yeah im sad lol) all the aussy guys look massive to me .

anyway im jw as im going on holiday there for a month around christmas, and just want to get a general idea of the country. according to my mate its the best country in the world, but obviously tht cant be right unless engand isnt included. im not sure if it really is good or, hes just saying it to get me there quicker lol strange question i no lol.

Neigbours? LOL, that show! I've never watched it before, except a few glimps of it.

Anyways, I would agree that theere ain't that many bodybuilders, or maybe there are, but the just aren't as big as those say in America, etc. I remember back in high school, one of the students could bench like 70kg or so and we were all like amazed. To tell you the truth, I have never seen anyone as big as some of these guys that are on this board. And I haven't seen anyone bring food in a cooler bag, and eat all day :D, except me, so I always look weird to my friends for eating every 2-3 hours.

BTW, which part of Australia you coming to? Sydney? Melbourne? QLD?

As much as I don't want to, I'm going to stop working out my legs until my knees heal up properly as they starting to make me worry. I'll be just doing upper body for the moment.

Get assessed for postural distortions and perform corrective movements.  Consider wrapping the effected area with a wrap that makes it moist and warm.  Consider Glucosamine and Chondroitine as well as 3-6 grams of fish oil.

Also, I agree, change your training until the pain is gone.

Find the cause.

Stretch tight muscles not loose muscles.  Use foam rollers for self-myofascial release on tight muscles.

Check training form.

They make YOU feel better, but you must always end any heat/shower/bath with ice to lower the swelling effect of the heat.  Heat can increase temporary blood flow to the area, which can help a little bit with healing damaged tissue that has no blood flow of it's own (tendon, etc).

Heat will not likely have any effect on the cause of the issue.

Christmas is Summer over in Australia. :D. Atm it is Winter.

Anyways, the last few days have been total crap. I have being stressing over the Assignments which are due like in a few days. One assignment I had been doing for the last 2-3 weeks and I couldn't get it to work (Programming), so anyways two days I decided to scrap the whole thing and start again. I have had some success, I've done about 40% or so, and I hopefully I can finish the majority tonight and tomorrow. I've had like only 5 hours sleep for the last few days and I feel crap. And I'm so annoyed that I lost 2.5kg in JUST THREE-FOUR WEEKS!!! It tooks me like 3 months to gain that! and yea, I'm not going to be working on the leg until my knees heal up. But anyways, I think I might lose more weight this week, I'm annoyed but I rather let me legs heal up and have less sleep so I can do my assignments so I don't fail.

I had a workout today and it went terrible, my strength is so crap now. On the holidays I'm definietely doing HST. Previously I've always worked a muscle group 1x  a week, and to tell you the truth I don't think my strength has increased/or even increased since I started. It could be that I'm working them too infrequently that I'm not providing enough stimulous, and I'm kinda annoyed that I haven't increased much muscle since I started, but much more fat. I'm definietely leaned towards a ectomorph, but hey I actually have put on a lot of fat, as recognised by the amount my waist has grown. I'll add in in one day of cardio every week when I'm on holidays. For now, I won't be able to do my workouts, and I need to be concentrating on my exams, ahhh, stress!!

yep that's the way vi!

i actually recommend that ya take a looong SD (strategic deconditioning), and then when you get back into it and do hst, you'll be pretty deconditioned to the stimulus that you'll grow no doubt! but yeah, plus your knees will hopefully be healed by that time hey, hopefully lol.
yeah, i've read that the whole once-a-week training is based on the GAS (general adaption syndrome) principle, but that principle is actually based on CNS stress and recovery RATHER than muscle (which recovers MUCH faster). i don't know how it got all mixed up like that, but it did. (no offense to anyone, i'm just saying what i read)
good luck on your exams mate, study as much so that you'll feel CONFIDENT, not over-umm-done!
hehe catchyaaa

Simon

P.S. if ya haven't already got the HST FAQ, here it is: http://www.hypertrophy-specific.info/cgi-bin/ib314/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=13;t=4624

and also there's printable workout sheets here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ridgely1.htm
(at the bottom of the page, but read the whole thing i reckon hey)

Thanks Simon.

These are the things I've decided
-Reduce my calorie intake from 5 to 4 meals a day.
-I'm not doing any exercise whatsoever till exams finish
-Start HST after exams
-Not going to do any form of leg work until knees heal up. However, I will be doing some knee rehab work myself until they heal
-Not check my weight until after my workouts start. I've lost many kg's and it's going to take me like another 4-5 months to gain back so I don't want to know about it now! :D

As I decided to reduce my intake and not exercise, my bodyweight has dropped again, although I promised to weight myself, lol. I'm getting kinda disappointed now, lost about 8-9lbs in one month+, and this has set me back to like December. I'm definietely getting back on track from next Monday.

When you don't train you lose water weight because you are not driving glycogen into the muscles..etc...dont sweat it.

Thanks Dan, I also have eaten less this last week, much less, very unavoidable. However, after Saturday, everything's going back to normally. I've also have like 5 hours on average sleep this week, not good due to exams. Today's last exam, back to study now, exam coming up in about 5 hours.

Well tomorrow will be officially when I get my eating plan back on track!!! I've had junk food for the last 1 week or so, I checked my weight and it's at 57kg now! LOL, but I'll get it confirmed tomorrow. I think since I've only had like 3 meals a day for the last week or so, tomorrow I won't eat exactly the same food amounts I was eating last time. Instead, I'll gradually increase it...

I did actually lose the 4kg, so I'm back down to 54kg, so 4kg lost, which was quicker than what it took me to gain. Anyways, it's either my metobolism, my Crohn's condition, or not eating enough, so I've decided to have a change of my nutriton plan. I'm going to borrow my friend's scale, and measure my foods roughly so I know how much I'm eating and changing some of the foods I eat, cos some of them look very large portions, but are not very dense, i.e congee. Hopefully I'll see some better gains. But the thing is I don't know how much I'm eating atm, but when I change my nutrition plan, it'll be more, so it's all good.

Also I'll be doing the following things tomorrow.
-Get a photo taken if my friend is allowed to borrow his dad's camera
-Take full body measurements / weight
-I'll do the same thing in a few months time
-Post the above things here.
