I ment hammer strength.  Its like a bench press machine only you stack plates on it you push it on an upward angle.  They have a flat one and a decline.   Incline and the flat is the hardest.  I started out only being able to barely do 180lbs on the thing last year.

I will have to take a video for you.  Unless I can find a picture online.

Edit never mind here is a picture.

I can stack 3 plates and a quarter plate on each side now so I am pretty happy  Can't imagine what I can actually flat bench.  This is some what in between a incline press and a flat press.   When I flat benched the 245 it really did not seem that heavy I almost think I could have gotten it 8 times.

OK I know what you're talking about now.....I've seen them before, but we don't have anything like that at my gym.
thanx

I thought this was kind of interesting..

Here is the height-to-weight chart for building a classic physique:

  • 5'5" - 160 lbs.
  • 5'6" - 165 lbs.
  • 5'7" - 170 lbs.
  • 5'8" - 175 lbs.
  • 5'9" - 180 lbs.
  • 5'10" - 185 lbs.
  • 5'11" - 190 lbs.
  • 6'0" - 200 lbs.
  • 6'1" - 210 lbs.
  • 6'2" - 220 lbs.
  • 6'3" - 230 lbs.
  • 6'4" - 240 lbs.
  • 6'5" - 250 lbs.

Damn I need 5 - 6 more lbs of lean muscle!! lol

well I did chest and tri's today.. No sense in going through all of it the Hammer strength has significantly increased the Skull crushers have increased to 110lbs behind the neck standing..

I am just trying to up that flat bench.. so here is how it went.

    Flat bench:

    185 x 10 - Inside grip
    225 x 8 - Mid Grip
245 x 5 - wide grip <-- I KNOW!! i missed a rep no big deal though I did rep 225 from the chest up 8 times fairly easy.

Anyways I am pretty sure my max rep is right at 300lbs.  I can rep 225 10 times if I really want too.. I was just doing 8 because thats my rep range for second set.  but 245 I did struggle with.   I don't know why I don't just max out... I guess its fear of failure.

i always wondered that too.. come to find out its the same machine that i use for a lot of my chest workouts.. lol

actually i did it today.. the incline one.. i don't go heavy on that machine tho.. i do slow controlled reps and squeeze the top.. its really good for that type of movement.. i normally only do 2 plates per side anywhere between 8-12 reps for 3-4 sets

i throw the decline one in there every now and then just for fun.. its funny when i put 4 plates on both side and bust out 8 reps and get up and people look at me like there  no way in hell that kid just did that much weight

Oh the decline is so much easier I max out the machine.. Its just a really easy angel I guess. The incline and the flat are the hardest.. I am starting to think the flat is harder then the incline though.

we don't have a flat at our gym.. just incline and decline.. and a shoulder press machine too but that one is weird.. i did it once and never did it again

BTW my chest is killin me today.. like i said, i love that machine cuz the movement is good for squeezing the muscles at the top.. anyone who doesn't use it should use it for about 4 weeks and they'll really be impressed
