Lipoderm-Y - Monday, July 28, 2003 7:33 AM
Lipoderm-Y

Lipo-Y. What is it, why does it work, and why am I writing about it?

Well, its Avant Labs oldest product, and most heralded product. It has tons of
great feedback, going back over the past several years. I know everything there is
to know about it. How it works, why it works, who should use it, and on and on.

HOWEVER, its the one avant labs product I have not used.

So here I will log my experience.

Obviously I am biased. But I will have to let my reputation for fairness and
honesty work here.

So, what is it? Lipoderm-Y is a potent fat mobilizer that will free " stubborn"
bodyfat when dieting.

What is stubborn bodyfat? Its that fat that you can' t seem to lose in a specific
area even though you are fairly lean elsewhere (typically hip, thighs, butt for
women and stomach for men).

If in fact that fat is " stobborn fat" it will have a higher concentration of alpha 2
receptors. When those receptors are stimulated -- that fat stays.

Yohimbine is an alpha 2 receptor antagonist. And its the active ingredient in
Lipoderm Y. What makes this product special is the delivery system. Several years
ago Par Deus, Avant' s president, designed the most potent localized gel -- in
other words it delivers the Yohimbine to the stubborn fat directly, rather than to
the bloodstream (systemically).

This does what other products claim but fail to do. Most similar products are
nothing more than a localized diuretic. So you lose inches, but they come right
back, once you stop using it.

Anyway, that' s the low down. This will either be a three or four week experiment,
and I' ll update this every Monday.

Right on! I' d be interested to read your personal results as well.

I think a few other members have complained about stubborn fat when all other areas they seem to be lean or leaning out in..

Just curious, but why did you wait so long to try it?

Also, I have read in the past that it is only effective if you are already quite lean (less than 10%bf), thus it would be ineffective for someone like me (around 17%bf cutting to around 9%bf) on a cutting cycle, correct? I do have stubborn stomach fat so I wish this to not be true.

Lastly, again just curiosity, but is Par Deus a self-taught supplement guru or does he have a degree(s)?

Thanks,
Bryan

Mostly, he is self taught. He has an undergrad degree of chemistry, which I suppose gave him some background. He has a little med school training. But again, its mostly if not all self taught.

Lipoderm will work at any BF level. It only works well though where the fat is high in alpha 2 receptors. Typically, one would need to get lean enough to know which areas were stubbord.

Why have I not used it? Good question. Mostly, because I have been experiementing with other stuff. Also because its best use is in women in the hip, butt and thigh region.

Normally, men are better served to use Ab-Solved on there abs (works through a different mechanism.

I used ab-solved and had good results the first two weeks, which then halted. This leads me to believe that I store stomach fat with excessive alpha 2 receptors rather than due to stress/cortisol.

BTW, my understanding is that Kris (supps101) will be carrying this soon, for anyone interested in purchasing it.

RE: Lipoderm-Y - Tuesday, August 05, 2003 8:02 AM
Update.

Given my pending surgery, I stopped use after only 5 days (on Saturday). On Monday, bodyweight was down 3 pounds and stomach was down 1/2 inch.

Too difficult to say whether it was because of the lipoderm-Y.

I know Leslie has used it successfully, so hopefully she' ll post some comments/stats.

I have surgery scheduled for Friday the 8th. I' ll give myself 3 weeks to recover, then diet beginning 9/2 with Leptigen and Lipoderm. I will only be training legs.

I' ll do this for the entire month of September, and provide results, weekly here. I' ll also likely be using an angrogen (1-test) to stave off atrophy in the upper body while I heal.

Sorry, for ending this so abrubtly. Stay tuned.

---TP--- Question....

Does taking NO2 and creatine & glutamine inhibit the effects and process of Lipoderm-Y.

No.

Taking glut and NO2 really won' t do anything at all, anyway.

But they work through different pathways.

Supps101, our sponsor should be carrying it shortly, so stay tuned.

Also, I'll be starting this journal back up again after labor day.

RE: Lipoderm-Y - Monday, August 25, 2003 3:57 PM
I dont have any current measurements to post. But here are some from my post comp binge. The Lipoderm helped get my thighs back down before they blew up
This is a quote from my progress tracker. Been using Lipoderm on my abs and thighs and yielded these results so far.

POST CARB STATS
July 29, 2003.........................................................August 4, 2003
BW 157.5.............................................................156.5
Waist 25.5...............................................................25"
Hip (top) 33 1/4"......................................................33"
(mid) 37 1/2.........................................................37"
(bot) 37.................................................................36 3/4"
Thigh 21 3/4".....................................................21 1/2"
Calve 15 1/2...........................................................15 1/2"
Bicep 12 1/2"...........................................................12 1/2"
CHest 39.......................................................... 39"

Normally those measurements would not budge until the last few weeks, but it is going already.

In the past my thighs and hip were so stuborn, that they would not shrink til the very end, right before my competition. Lipoderm has helped me achieve steady loss all over, instead of just my upper body. Definately recommended fo rthose, esp women, with stubborn thigh fat. Who doesnt have it?

Started this up again today. This morning I was:

Weigh: 205
Waist: 38 inches

I was a bit bloated however, so some of that should be water. If I am strict all week, I expect I'll be 200 pounds in 6 days with the stomach at 37 3/4 inches. This would be w/o the lipoderm-Y.

I am also using FL7 and Leptigen.

Sounds good.. just those few inches off the midsection is substantial.

Have you noticed any kind of side effects with this product? Feelings? Do you get the feeling it's working when applied?

I might have to try this myself.. sounds interesting.

Looking forward to the updates.

As with any of the gels, you get a tingling feeling. Its more a product of the carrier then the fact that it is "working".

I also get a warm sensation, and the applied area is generally red for a bit.
