Certainly won't argue the point.
Did you take it by itself or with all that other stuff?

These are herbs and have subtle actions such as Sarsaparilla being a general vitality enhancing tonic, or Wild Yam being anti-inflamitory, and licorice being an adrenal corrective tonic and anti-inflammitory.

So they may have corrected some condition such as would result from overtraining or stress...

Thanks for all the advice (special thanks to dan for other ways to boost besides the herbs). Ive been training pretty much as hard I can, so I just wanted to make sure that I wasnt being held back. So the only thing I really need to worry about is the trib not doing anything right? there shouldnt be any severe problems from taking an herb?

The best designed and most recent human study compared the effects of tribulus (3.21 mg per kilogram of body weight for example, 292 mg daily for a 200-lb man) against placebo (fake treatment) on body composition and endurance among 15 men engaged in resistance training. At the end of the 8-week study, the only significant difference between the treatment and placebo groups was that the placebo group showed greater gains in endurance!

Antonio J, Uelmen J, Rodriguez R, et al. The effects of Tribulus terrestris on body composition and exercise performance in resistance-trained males [abstract]. Int J Sport Nutr Exerc Metab. 2000;10:208,215.

One well designed study failed to find that tribulus affects male sex hormone levels in young men.

Neychev VK, Mitev VI. The aphrodisiac herb Tribulus terrestris does not influence the androgen production in young men. J Ethnopharmacol. 2005 Jun 30.

As for the Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia) there is simply no science that shows any benefit from this...unles you happen to be a middle age or "sexually sluggish old male rats."  Then you are likely to stretch and yawn more...

The only warning with Tongkat is that 26%+ of the malaysian stock has been found to be contaminated with mercury..and there is also lead contamination...

AND... that training twice a day sounds interesting, is there anything else i should know about that?

It is called a double split...there are a 1000 wways to mix it up but if you train the whole body 2x a week on a 2 day split...then each day you would split the workout into 2 obvious sections for a shorter workout.  For example...
              AM                         PM training
Day 1       Back, abs               Quads, Biceps
Day 2       Chest, calf              Hamstring, Shoulders, Triceps

AND you said something about cardio, will that hurt my mass gaining? thanks again.

It is not ideal to do a lot of cardio while striving for mass gains.
However doing HIIT (compare a long distance runner with a sprinter for instance) is more conducive.
Alternately doing a portion of your training in the 25-40 rep range will lead to hypertrophy in Type I and Type IIa muscle fibers and also be aerobic!

You should be gaining 1/2 to 2 pounds a week.  If you are not it is your diet that is holding you back.  Read that gaining mass file for pointers...

Vary your trianing frequently!

Thanks! that was all helpful. I will probably drop that androtest and 6-oxo and spend the money on nitrix or something. Two last questions then I swear im done. So sprinting is an acceptable form of cardio for mass gaining? and 25-40 to reps doesnt mean per set right? it means like 4 sets of 10 adds up to 40?

That is one set of 25-40.

Remember we are talking about training for aerobic effect?
Believe me ...finish off each muscle group with a set of 25 and see how you end up panting for the whole workout!

Look you can train in the 9-12 range and have a section in the 15-25 range in there and accomplish much the same.

Plan to start your workouts with the large muscle compound movements!  That gets GH flowing!  Squat, deadlift, bent row...

one day I start with Squats and move to deadlifts...I am blowing up the whole workout!

Next time I do Bent Row and Bench...not as powerful but still I am sweating and panting.

It is better than moderate cardio in terms of teaching the body what to do in terms of composition!

Train it to build muscle!

ok....What on earth does that mean
Do you have any clinical study demonstrating that it (or ANYTHING in it) was effective for anything related to the training effect desired?  No.

You have teenagers with anecdotal reports saying they take 17hd and train like monsters and so it must work.

GymRat is 16!!!! He is a living hormone factory!!  He SHOULD BE a beast!
"mad rush it gives you for the workout"

Yes it could be a placebo effect.

The tonic functions of those herbs making someone feel better...might increase there sense of vitality...Some people with depressed immune systems could experience a rise in vitality and even an adrenalin rush from the herbs in this...once their adrenal system normalizes or gets exhausted, this will no longer be the case.

It is possible but getting more unlikely that it is "laced."

What "works" is people training and eating right and recovering.
What works is people using supplements with some validity and proven use..not with a mythical herbal mix...please...Smile
