what my older couzin whos going to b a doctor tld me about creatine
-

well i jus saw a lot boards tlken about creatine however my couzin is a pro body builder and i was tlken with him hes all natural though which is hard to belve he tld me creatine pumps water into your muslces but the main thing he tld me was that creatine messes the liver up...Protein is sysnthesized in the liver the more messed up your liver gets the harder itll be to get bigger so mayb ull get results now quicker but in the end it wont be worth it since when your older youll probally have liver problems and find a genral declin in effiency AND u cant replace this loss with protien powders unless u reliaze the fact that u will have to use powders for the rest of your life since your body will stop producing protein and relying on the powder

No offense to your cousin and his doctoral aspirations, but rubbish. Creatine has not been shown to have any significant detrimental effects on the liver in the 30 plus years since it was first introduced. CEE is coming under scrutiny lately (and rightfully so, I believe), because CEE is designed to be more fat soluble, and therefore lingers in the body longer. But Creatine Monohydrate, when properly cycled, is no more or less harmful to your liver than anything else you consume on a regular basis. Even excess protein, if consumed regularly, and for too long a period, can be harmful to your liver.
Yes, that's me in my avatar, and NO, I don't look like that today. That was taken back in Jan '07, and I lost most of that progress when I slacked off last year. I'm on my way back, tho, and I'm using that photo for inspiration.

Maybe I should supplement with alcohol rather than creatine like other people.

I appreciate your posting- If I heard something about possible harm coming from a supp, I'd post it too- With a disclaimer, and a source. You told us it came from your cousin, who's going to be a doc and is a pro bodybuilder- (Does he have a site we can check out, btw?) so we can make our own decisions based on that info. Personally, I think that just about every supplement and diet plan out there has come under criticism and acclaim from many different sources, so it's hard to get a good read on things. While your cousin might think it's bad, there are plenty of people out there who have been doctors for a long, long time who would disagree with him- And they'd also say you shouldn't listen to medical advice from someone who isn't a doctor yet. Hell, like any other job out there, there are many people who've been doctors for ages who still don't know what they're talking about. It's very hard to tell the truth from the crap- Which is why I go by personal experiences- Mine and those of other real people I actually know. I have never heard of anyone developing dependancy on powders or suffering ill effects from creatine, except for bloating and stuff like that. Again, thanks for posting though- A lot of times, posts like this can help further educate others who may have been wondering about the issue.

Long and short term clinical research on Creatine and liver function shows absolutley NO effect on liver function. Creatine is a Nutrient...not a drug. It is in food, it is soon likely to be declared an essential nutrient. The liver is not involved in pure supplement or food based creatine use.

Creatine's been under tons of observation for the past 15 or more years, and NO sign of liver malfunctions were caused due to the supplementation of creatine. Your cuz prolly needs to go back to college for a year or so.
