Day 33 - Full body workout (machine circuit)

Modelling day today. I did 3 rounds of the 'machine circuit' the gym has set up and felt nice pumps and a great 'euphoria'. I followed this up with a moderate intensity 30min cardio session on the treadmill.

The show itself went well. A little nerve-racking but plesant all around. Thats going straight on my CV. User Posted Image After the show, the lady gave me some contacts if i was interested in some more amateur shows (clothed ofcourse). It was a great day all up. User Posted Image

Fairly good workout. Nice pumps. Lasted 70mins... i still felt i could do more but i left seeing as though I was going to run late for work if i stayed any longer...

I had a great time... It was nerve-racking at first... especially because they put me in a skin-tight lime green polo... apparently thta goes well with dark skin Smile I am definitely NOT convinced...

Then for the formal segment, i was quite happy with what they put one me...

It was a great experience... wouldnt mind repeating it..

Lime green is a hard color to pull off, but I agree with your dressers--darker-skinned guys can look totally hot in that color, especially if it is a tight-fitting shirt over a decent physique.  What did your girlfriend think?

I dont think i qualify as a decent physique..

Shes in a different state at the moment... we are long-distancing... for a few more months.. then when i get back from my overseas trip which i leave on next week, well be back  in the same city again.

She agreed with the stylists... lime green Smile

It was a little different though having a stylist doing my hair and adjusting buttons, pullingng things here and there, pushing things, tucking things in.. a very VERY new experience...

I felt violated at times.. Smile

I have been thinking and maybe a pastel light green would be better than a lime green but i still really like the polo shirt idea...

OR better yet, you could just wear no shirt Smile

Day 36 - Legs

Squats - 3 sets x 3 reps @ 122.5kg (270lbs) Smile
Incline Leg press - 3 sets x 4 reps @ 240kg (534lbs)
Standing calf raises - "100's" @ 80 kg (155-175lbs) Smile
Seated leg curls - 2 x 6-8 @ 70kg (130-155lbs)

-------------------

Did NOT feel like working out today. The moment i stepped in the gym i knew it was going to be an 'off' day. Work is a weighing a little heavily on my mind last couple of days... showed in todays workout. My squat was exactly the same as last week - no improvement.. not even one rep Smile

BUT on the bright side.. with a change of shoes, im really starting to feel the standing calf raises now...the new shoe has good grip on the bottom so my feet arent constanly sliding off the platform... cant believe the solution was so simple.. i feel like such an idiot!!

Day 38 - Back & Calves

Seated cable row - 3 sets x 6-8 reps @ 85kg
Lat pulldowns - 3 sets x 6 @ 62.5kg
One arm DB rows - 3 sets x 8 @ 35kg
Seated calf raises - "100's" - 80 reps...SmileSmile

------------

Back felt awesome...

I think i hurt my achilles tendon... on the 80th rep, at the bottom of the movement on seated calf raise i felt something  'twinge' a little and then pain (not intense, but gradually coming on). Luckily it was my last exercise so i limped home, iced it... Hope its nothing serious...

Day 39 - Arms

EZ bar curls - 3 sets x 4-6 reps @ 42.5-45kg
Cable pushdowns - 3 sets x 6-8 @ 65-75kg
One-arm cable curls
- 3 sets x 6 reps @ 32.5kg
Overhead seated tricep extension - 3 sets x 4-6 reps @ 40-42.5kg
Incline DB curls - 3 sets x 4-6 reps @ 17.5kg
One arm overhead tricep extensions - 3 sets x 6 reps @ 12.5kg

-------------------------

Massive pumps.. weights went up... i felt like a greek god Smile

Diets been very good and im sure ive put on some weight this week because i certainly 'feel' bigger. Still a little concerned about the achilles tendon though...will get one of my mates to ultrasound it for me tommorow when i have some free time..

I leave on friday for my 2 month overseas trip so i will post the end-stats tommorow - Day 40

When i come back from holiday (deconditioned in all probability), i shall start Stage 1 again, then go into stage 2 (current stage) and then I will get started on the third stage ((also 3 weeks in length) to this program - either a full body workout 3 times a week or an 'upper-lower' split twice a week...

I will then add a stage 4 which will probably be a 'traditional hypertrophy' 3 week cycle, take a week off and repeat the 12 week cycle... Should be interesting... if i make good results, ill fine tune the program specifics and put together a "formal" program....

[Draft] Summary of workout program :

1st stage - Supersets (3 weeks)
2nd stage - Heavy Overload/Strength (3 weeks)
3rd stage - Full-body workouts/ upper-lower split twice a week (3 weeks)
4th stage - 'Traditional Hypertrophy' (3 weeks)
5th stage - Rest (1-2 weeks)

Well... its been a while!

2 months off has really taken a toll on my body, especially because i ate the same as when i was exercising Smile

Before i left, my stats were more or less the same as at the end of week 5:

Measurements @ end Week 6

Height:     6'0
Weight:  92.9kg (204.5lbs)
BF%:       15.9%
LBM:        78.13kg (171.9 lbs)
Fat:         14.7 kg (32.3 lbs)
Chest:     42.5"
Arms:      16.125-16.25"
Waist:      33.5"
Thigh:      26.2" (at largest point)
Calves:     15.125"

I dont even want to think or MEASURE what they are now Smile i feel disgusting, fat and grossly obese.

Im going to hit the gym again tm. Meanwhile, until then i will write up my next routine and post it up, probably tm.

On second thoughts.. i think supersets might be a little too intense for me when im just starting out again. I like the idea of a hgiher frequency (i.e. each muscle twice a week) but supersets are just a little too intense.

I started my program that yesterday, its similar to what Derek "Beast" Charlebois used for a while - each muscle group twice a week. I dont have my program on me right now but ill post it up soon.

Today is the day after my first workout (chest, tris, shoulders) and i dotn think ive ever been this sore before. I had so much difficulty taking my shirt off this morning because of the pain - i LOVE IT!!

Will post numbers and program up soon...

I guess its time for an update of stats:

This is rather embarassing as all my hard work before my working-holiday seems to have been wasted.

This is how i stand right now.

Measurements @ 22nd Nov 2006

Height:     6'0
Weight:  92kg (202lbs)
BF%:       ~19-20%
LBM:        75.52
Fat:         16.5 kg
Chest:     42"
Arms:      16.25"
Waist:      34.5"
Thigh:      25.2" (at largest point)
Calves:     15"

Ive been resisting writing these stats out as i didnt want to look at the numbers but i guess it has to be done sooner or later. *sigh* Well, there goes that.

Onwards and upwards.

So first things first: Goal for mid-2007

Height:     6'0
Weight:  95kg @ 12% BF
Chest:     43"
Arms:      16.5"
Waist:      32-33"
Thigh:      27" (at largest point)
Calves:     15.5"

Unrealistic? Maybe... But you gotta aim high.

For the last week or so since ive been back, ive just been doing a 3 day push-pull-legs split. After the first day, i didnt even bother to CONSIDER doing the push/pull/legs split twice a week, even if it was lightweights.

I seriously underestimated the difficulty of getting back into solid training after 9 weeks off. Its not easy at all!!! The soreness is unbearable (but good). I have a feeling itll take me a few weeks yet to get back into a solid rhythm and routine. I dont want to push too hard as ive just come back from 2 and a bit months off. Easy does it.

Once im settled in a routine, i will post up the specifics and get back to updating everyday.

Welcome back!  Yeah, coming off a long break sucks.  Luckily though, it looks like you were in a good place before the break, and muscle memory will carry you through to your former glory pretty quickly.  Take it easy and don't injure yourself.  It's psychologically difficult to go back to lighter weights and lighter workouts after you know where you were before, but that's a recipe for disaster if you succumb!

Posting your pics is good for comparison and inspiration (or motivation!).
