Cpl's TP-PT journal - Monday, April 05, 2004 2:10 PM
So, I'm one of the few here who was lucky enough to be tapped as a tester for the TP-PT routine- And today was my first workout.
Part of the deal was that I have to keep a journal here, so here it is- Although anyone reading this should also be aware of another part of the deal- I am not allowed to discuss the program, I can only detail the workout I completed on any given day.

Today's workout was definitely a wake up call for me- I haven't worked so many muscles in one day in a long time, and my body wasn't totally ready for it. Here's what I did-
Lat pulldowns
Bent over rows, underhand grip
Lying leg curls
Machine hammer curls
Barbell curls
Barbell shrugs
Calf raises

While I only did two sets of each exercise (After a warmup) it still felt like a real challenge to me, since I've been used to working only one muscle group per day.

Uh oh. If you are hurting after day 1, you are screwed.

Not hurting- Just shocked, I guess you could say.
I'm used to only 9 working sets or less, all for the same muscle group- Going from that to fourteen sets for three muscle groups... Well, this program is definitely going to get me in a different kind of shape, that's for sure. Thanks again for the opportunity!

Similar to CB in that.. I went from Max-OT 6-9 sets to around 12. Was shocked as well.

I can imagine that it's gonna be very different.

I'll be following this journal as well as embarking on this myself. Looking good CPL.

Day 2-
Still a shock to the system, so many muscles in one day. Feels great, though-
Barbell Squats
Quad Extensions
Incline Barbell Press
Cable Crossovers
Military Dumbbell Press
Close-Grip Bench Press
V-bar Press-downs

I'm liking the idea of getting used to slightly higher reps and slightly lower weights- New feeling for me altogether. Today was still two sets each exercise.

Yesterday was a rest day- Today, on the other hand, was a repeat of Monday's workout.
Lat pulldowns
Bent over rows, underhand grip
Lying leg curls
Machine hammer curls
Barbell curls
Barbell shrugs
Calf raises

Again, two sets per exercise, in the six to nine rep range. On monday, I was shooting for six reps each set, since I'm new to this sort of workout. Today, I pushed and got seven or eight each set.

I was supposed to post this yesterday- Friday, that is.
Friday's workout was a repeat of Tuesday's workout, same exercises, same amount of sets. Again, the first time I did this workout I was doing six reps for each exercise, but this time around got a couple more in each set.
Barbell Squats
Quad Extensions
Incline Barbell Press
Cable Crossovers
Military Dumbbell Press
Close-Grip Bench Press
V-bar Press-downs

I'm already noticing that my body needs a little more rest than usual- I actually woke up a little late for work yesterday- Gotta remember to go to bed a little earlier from now on.
Saturday and Sunday are rest days, so I'll report back in on Monday.

Probably not.
I can't talk about the upcoming workouts, just the ones I've done so far. All I can say is, wait till you see what I'm posting for the next three weeks.

Heh. I'm getting ready to start the program on Tuesday... should I stock up on ibuprofen this weekend?

Nah, it hasn't gotten that bad so far... So far. I'm still getting used to working every muscle so much, and like I said earlier, you might want to get ready to get a little more sleep than usual. Overall, the workout feels great right now.

I'd still say it's easy- I've had no problem doing the workouts, I've just been noticing how my body's adjusting to working everything twice in one week. A little more sleep here and there, or perhaps that's just extended nightmares of things to come. I don't know.

Okay, I didn't post yesterday- Problems at work, I had to stay late. I still managed to get my workouts in though- Yesterday's and todays.
Same two workouts I've been doing, working the entire body in two days- Only yesterday and today, I did three sets for each exercise. I think my body's adjusted to the idea of working everything so much as opposed to once a week, both workouts felt really good.
Sorry for the short post, but I've been swamped with work the last few days and I've got a lot of catching up to do around the house... Tomorrow's a rest day anyway, and I'll give a more detailed post then.
