I'm pretty sure it's one of those light level meter things. I'm a little more concerned with what he's got in his other hand. Probably with his body he needs to grip his junk that tightly to keep the women off!

I hear ya, IBB! There is a very clear difference between being rediculously muscular and being functionally strong/athletic. I know dudes with Bruce Lee physiques that can rep one-handed pullups until the gym closes Then you have those freaks doing 50 no-rest rapid power snatches with 135 lbs and then jumping right over to 50 wide-grip chinups without even losing their breath. Key Ryste! That would be pretty sick to have that kind of athleticism, but as long as I look good and feel healthy, I'll be a happy camper

Vegeep - Just curious. What kind of ratios are you intaking in your diet? Or better yet, a sample eating plan. Many say you can't get shredded and muscular without eating meat. I'd say you can prove them wrong!

Indeed. These days, I've thrown the ratios to the wind. I don't advise it for the long term, but eating everything that isn't nailed down has been the only way to get myself out of that rut last October I usually strive for 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, then I divide the remaining calories equally between carbs and fat. I get the majority of my proteins from beans & legumes, soy products, peanut butter, lentils, and chick peas, but like vdk_au said, I also use a whey protein supplement (blended with soymilk) post-workout. I also occasionally have hardboiled egg whites for breakfast. So, technically, if you wanted the most accurate label, I guess you could say I'm a "Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian", though for the most part (outside of the whey protein), I avoid dairy as much as possible. Defying the "sickly, emaciated vegetarian" stereotype has been my goal from day one George Bush hosed up my workout last night Well, not entirely hosed. I got dragged into another meeting at lunchtime yesterday, so I ended up putting my "Push" workout off until the evening, but by the time I got to it, it was closing in on 8:30 PM. Not wanting to miss the State of the Union Address, I figured I'd just set my watch to beep at 8:55 and I'd run out to the living room and set the TIVO on "record" (why didn't I just set it up before hand? Because I'm an idiot, that's why). So I got half-way through the workout, banging out bench presses and feelin' awesome when my alarm goes off. I took exactly one minute to turn on the TV, mute it, and start the Tivo, and went straight back to the workout. Somehow, that managed to be just enough time to kill my pump, throw me off my groove, and have me doubting the rest of the workout from that point forward The good news is, I banged it out anyway, but I hate it when my mind wanders. The slightest little distraction can throw me out of the zone -that's why I turn of my phone's ringer when I hit the gym. Bench Press 100/8 110/8 110/8 110/8 110/8.3 25 more lbs darn you! 25 more!!! Yeah, you know, there's really no good reason why I can't just throw it down That 110 wasn't exactly "easy" for me, but I know for a fact that I didn't struggle on the final reps on any of those sets like I used to. I think it's time to up the stakes here. From now on, I'm going to pull a set each of 115 and 120 by 8 reps, then 125, 130, and 135 until I can hit 8 solid reps with each weight. Each time I hit 8 reps, I'll trade up one of the lighter sets for the new 8-rep max. Clear as mud, yes? It sounds a lot more complicated than it is. It's basically what I've been doing all along, I just think I'm taking too long to trickle the bigger numbers down into my earlier sets Plus, I'm shorting myself on probably 10 pounds of credit here. I've always rounded the Smith Machine bar down to 30 Lbs for simplicity of tabulating the numbers, even though I know it weighs more than that. The way I see it, the built-in ROM limitations of the Smith are a significant "cheat" -significant enough to warrant knocking at least 10 pounds off my rep numbers.
