You want to look big, but if you need to get into a fight then it will happen.

Start with your diet. Find out how many calories a day you'll need to get bigger. Check out the calorie calculator post near the top of the nutrition forum, use the info there to get a number- To gain mass, add 300-500 to that number, this'll give your body the extra building tools it needs for new muscle. Take that number, and spread it over five or six meals a day- Use Fitday.com to find out how many calories are in different types of food, and how many of those calories come from protein, carbs and fat. Once you have your diet right, you WILL get bigger. Get on a good workout routine that challenges your muscles to grow. Work each muscle group only once or twice a week, make sure it gets plenty of rest so that the body can work its magic. Within three or four months of eating right and working out, you're going to see nice muscle gains. I don't agree with the fighting either- It makes no sense. I do think that with some more size, people are going to be a lot less likely to pick on you, and it'll increase your confidence. So- You've got a lot of work to do, and it's going to take some time. I suggest you start now.

Also about not having the right equipment. I was reading an interesting article on another site on basic weightlifting using milk jugs filled with different levels of water. Granted its not a gym, or a 3k+ bowflex, but it is something that you have around, and you can start to lift using something heavier that a bar with no weights, or a set of low weight dumb bells...It was very interesting and have a large amount of exorcises you could do with it. I don't want to post URL's but if you take the time to look you'll find something about it.

If you are eating more and losing weight, then you might need to see your doctor first. Last year I was eating more and loss 35 lbs, from 220 lbs to 185 lbs, was so shocked so went to my doctor for advice, turns out my sugar level is too high. I agree that your most important way to gain weight is nutrition.
