<snip> . . . and sadly I accually have, and its become an obsession for me to get bigger and bigger.
Why is it "sad"?
I think I know why he said that, but I'll let Mustang answer if he wants. Personally, I think it's sad that that's what it takes for some people to give a s**t about you, or give you respect. I said it in a previous post, and I'll say it again: nothing about me has changed but my appearance. I'm still the same warm-hearted, caring, supportive, easygoing guy I've ever been, but if people want to chum up to me all of a sudden who wanted nothing to do with me before just because I'm filling out my shirts a little more these days, I have half a mind to tell them to "get bent". I mean, how shallow is that?
And yet, we can't escape it. If you really think about it, yeah, bulking up and getting ripped to shreds
does endear you to a certain type of people who wouldn't give you the time of day as a 90-pound weakling. But then, if you dwell on it long enough, you start second-guessing everyone's motives who shows you the slightest kindness or appreciation. That, I believe, is where a lot of the really nasty personalities in professional bodbuilding comes from: guys who were picked on as kids, hit the gym with a vengeance and an axe to grind, and now spend their time throwing their weight around. The only thing they forgot to build was their maturity. Not everyone lets it go to their head, but those who do stick out like a sore thumb.
