Men's Health just put out a new magazine line (Men's Health Muscle), and they had an article in the first issue where they had a food critic review a bunch of supplements, and also give suggestions for making them taste better. According to that, you should try adding a few real strawberries to help mask the artificial flavor.

only problem i have come across adding real strawberries is the fact that it doesnt give it much flavor and plus you have all those berries at the bottom of the glass when your finishing it off. normally i get the designer whey, natural flavor and add a lil bit of chocolate syrup. i know its prolly not the best thing to mix with it, but it makes it taste better.

Are you mixing it in a blender? I haven't had any trouble with my strawberries in a blender, and I find they add lots of flavor. I use the big whole frozen strawberries you get in a 5 pound bag at Costco.

I really rate Dymatize Elite Whey and also their Mega Milks taste lush, just like a creamy milkshake in fact!! Also the Met-RX drink mix's are awesome. But Reflex Whey is ok too, bit on the watery/wishy washy side for me tho!

well ive always stuck with ON 100% whey, cholcolate flavored...but i recently saw on another post here today some really cheap protein from www.supplementdirect.com called Pure Whey Protein, you can get 33 lbs. of it for 89.99 and each 33 lb bag has i think around 530 servings with 23 g protein a serving thats definetly the cheapest ive ever seen, its got no flavor and theyve got 2,5,11, and 33 lb. bags of it, if anybody has tried this or heard anything about it??? please post because i believe u get what u pay for...but i also belives sense im 16 and my parents wont pay for any supplements, multi vitamins, or protein for me because my dads old school and he thinks if i eat alot ill get big enough --if anyones got any comments please post!!!--

ORIGINAL: joez7219 I'm thinking about give the protein powders a break (time off). Anyone think this is a bad idea? I think of protein less like supplementing and more like dieting. Protein is something you need for your muscles to rebuild after being torn. If you don't get sufficient protein needed to rebuild, you'll notice that working out will not only stop your gains, but perhaps damage them... making you weaker. If you stop the shakes, I'd make sure to get enough protein from food/dieting. You're not gonna get extremely weak or anything, have never seen that happen to someone who works out, but you won't be seeing any quick gains that's for sure. I'm not saying you need the powders to get bigger, I'm just saying you need protein in your diet in general to get bigger, it's crucial.

then yes, that might be a good idea, I wanna do this too after I end my creatine cycles... just go straight on real food for like 3 weeks or so. Just make sure to get enough protein without going overboard on calories. That's one thing shakes help with.

Hey x2c that was me that posted that link. I can vouch for that protein, I'm in the same situation as you, my parents wont pay for my supps because my dad is all old school. I've gained 10-15lbs the last month using that in my protein shake, so it definatly works. I think they save a lot of money by putting the protein in a big bag instead of plastic jars that probably run the cost of the product up for most protein makers.

Avoid brand with aspartame. Um... why? Besides, don't most proteins use Ace-K as a sweetener? Aspartame has been known to slow the metabolism, at least thats what my doctor said.

ORIGINAL: alienhey everybody! i am thinking of buying reflex instant whey(chocolate flavor). Any expieriences or advice on whey protein? Just bought 2-5lb. tubs of ON GS Whey. Rocky Road and Strawberry so as not to get bored with one flavor. Always been partial to chocolate & strawberry. Rocky Road is chocolate with a hint of Mashmellow. Also, ON GS Whey has good supp and amino profiles. Got mine for about 28 bucks a tub. Peace
