Veggeep's Creatine Ethyl Esther Review - Monday, February 20, 2006 10:49 AM
Okay, I promised everyone I'd keep you posted on my switch to CEE, so here we go...

I have gone through two bottles of plain, unflavored, un-embellished creatine monohydrate with precisely the response I was expecting (increased performance during the workout, faster recovery between sets, and a significant amount of cell volumizing "bloat" -which I actually like, thank you very much). After our little bulking competition here on DBB ends next week, I'll cycle off the Creatine for two weeks and then start backk up on MuscleTech's CEE-Pro.

I've already used this stuff for a week, and (although it's still too early to tell) I don't notice any significant improvement or degredation compared to monohydrate.

There is one noticable side effect, however, that I can report with certainty is related to MuscleTech CEE-Pro: a side effect you typically only associate with asparagus consumption
Yes, that's me in my avatar, and NO, I don't look like that today. That was taken back in Jan '07, and I lost most of that progress when I slacked off last year. I'm on my way back, tho, and I'm using that photo for inspiration.

I used the Muscletech CEE pro and I couldn't tell a difference at all.  I use Six Star CEE and I can tell a big difference.

Any form of Creatine should have that effect.  Like I said, I haven't noticed any less volumization on it than I do on Monohydrate.

Hype, apparently   J/K... CEE is purported to work more efficiently (less dosage required) than Mono, with less cramping potential.  That shouldn't be an issue if you get enough water.

Good question -Either they disco'd the product line, or they forgot.  I could only find it by searching supp retailers online.

ebbearsfb1      I don't think Muscletech make the CEE Pro anymore.  I cannot find them on the Muscletech website,  you can order them from 3rd party distribuitors due to overstock, but once their gone they are gone.   Iovate Health make all products for Muscletech and they make all products for Six Star also.   Same company make both, just the Six Stars are a whole lot better.

Yep. That has been my impression. I scored the best deal out of fifteen major distributors on a couple of 180 ct. bottles from MassNutrition.com, but looking through their wholesale price catalogue, it becomes obvious that the killer deal on MuscleTech CEE-Pro caplets is because they're clearing it out. The rest of their prices aren't that much better than street.

This reminds me of the killer deal I got on an '84 Subaru with a 1600 cc horizontally opposed 4-cyl engine. The one that magically blew BOTH cylinder heads two weeks after they stopped manufacturing replacement parts

Caveat Emptor

Well, again, it's still too early for me to start making recommendations.  I'm not expecting CEE to blow my mind or anything, but if I don't notice any significant benefits to the Monohydrate I was taking, I'm not going to sing its praises.  The fact is, this stuff costs more than Monohydrate, so if it isn't any better than Mono, the answer should be obvious.

Sorry to dangle the carrot like this, LOL.  Answers in due course

whats the difference between creatine cee
and monohdyrate

Okay, I have a clearer understanding of the difference now.  Take a picture folks -this is the first time I've jumped on a supplement because of the hype without doing my homework first, LOL   It won't happen again...

Anyway, Creatine Ethyl Ester is simply Creatine Monohydrate that has been Esterified.  "Oooooo!  I hope you didn't skip your workout digging up that complicated explanation!"  Ha ha ha ha!  Bear with me:

Esters are organic compounds that are formed by esterification - the reaction of carboxylic acid and alcohols.  Esters exist in the lipids (fat tissues) of animals.  The point of esterifying a compound like Creatine (and some anabolic steroids, it turns out), is to increase its fat solubility.  Why would you do that?  Creatine Monohydrate utilizes lipids to permeate the cell membrane (called passive permeation), to get to where it can do it's mo-jo.  Unfortunately, Creatine Mono is semi-lipophobic (mostly water-soluble), so you have to take huge amounts of it (5 grams/day is huge in micronutrient supplementation terms) to make sure enough gets through the cell membrane.  Not very efficient.

By esterifying the Creatine Mono, the lab-coats purport, smaller doses are required to acheive cell saturation, and the increased fat solubility reduces the amount of water that gets dragged into the cell with it.  The former is significant because -hey, wouldn't you rather accomplish the same thing with less if you could?  The latter is significant because It may reduce the "bloating" effect of creatine, one of it's lesser-understood side effects.

Personally, I prefer the bloat.  Give me bigger bi's, I don't care if they're pumped full of sand, LOL   Seriously, I feel fuller, tighter, and more pumped with a moderate amount of Creatine saturation.  So taking CEE might be a good way to test whether you perceive any legitimate strength increases without the same size increases as Monohydrate, but if you want both, CEE is probably not such a hot idea.

Forgot to reference my source:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/cee.html

This is all just deliscious speculation on my part -I tend to put a lot of faith in science   Any real objective review of CEE would involve biopsying tissue to confirm greater saturation, and I'm no about to submit to that, LOL
