My question is: are there any other active ingredients in V12 besides CGT (Creatine-Glutamine-Taurine), dextrose, and L-arginine? I was wondering if I could come close to duplicating its effects by simply mixing these 4 products (which I can get for free) to replace V12 (which I can' t get for free). I guess any info. on what the doses are of these individual ingredients would help alot, as well as more personal experience reviews of it (is it even worth duplicating :)]. Thanks as always, Bryan

I personally like it.. and so does Kris.. Taurine has shown in various studies to help improve creatine transport. My own experience has been positive and some people have reported feeling bloated just on pure creatine and dextrose and do not report those symptoms here. As far as the " actual" ingredients if you wanted to make your own.. I don' t know that.. Maybe somebody else does. But I know there has been a huge NO2 thread on other forums.. about making your home-brew.. and the end concoction was just L-arginine.. which isn' t all NO2 supplements contain. So unless you pay for a lab test.. you might get close but you won' t duplicate V12. And whatever you end up making may or may not work the same.. and hell.. maybe that combo doesn' t do anything for you. If you want to start off.. if you haven' t already... just try pure creatine with dextrose.. it' s the best stuff.. lots of research to prove it works.. and it' s CHEAP.

I was speaking with Dave of Xtreme Formulations the other day. He said that studies show that 5g servings of creatine only resulted in several hundred mg being used by the body. He speculated that this was the reason for non-responders. He said his formula will allow for almost full aborbtion so it will only use 2-3 grams. He' ll be sending me some to test, when it is in early stages of development (i.e. before its on the market and before it has flavoring). I hope my shoulder is healed by then.

Thanks for the quick responses. Yes, I am a creatine non-responder, so far as I can tell. I definitely do not feel any real palpable differences between when I am on it and when I am off of it. I do however continue to take it because a) I get it for free and I have yet to see a study proving it can be negative in any way and b) I have read that there are other effects of creatine which are not neccessarily tangible (i.e.-above and beyond its water retention and energy producing effects); " Creatine supplementation in combination with an increased functional load results in increased satellite cell mitotic activity compared to increased functional load alone" (1). Thus, I continue to take it, but am also very interested in any forthcoming products which will perhaps produce better results. Any idea when it might be coming out TP, roughly? Regarding the " homemade V12" issue, I think I will dig around a little and see if I can find out the exact quantities of each ingredient that is put into V12 and see if I can mimic it. I will let you know if it works at all (again, I have nothing to lose so not a loss if it does not). -Bryan --------- 1-International Journal of Sports Medicine 2000 Jan;21(1):13-6.

I think the V12 made a difference over straight creatine in my situation. But the placebo affect is very valid.. If you feel good taking V12, motivated and your mind builds it up, then that alone could be responsible for doing more weight. But I' ve noticed over the last month that it seems like all my weights are moving up and that is the only thing I' ve modified. And I' m usually very motivated to workout and mentally ready.
