Hi, I want to change my life style... It was going real good for a while when I was younger, then I don't know what the heck happendSmile! I have a good nice unwanted thick layer of fat on me that I would rather have as used and long gone energySmile. I have been looking into Tom Venuto's "Burn The Fat: Feed The Muscle" e-book, I am really considering it. Even more so after reading your reviewSmile. Do you think that is a good direction for me to move towards?

I am very determined and will have no problem in giving up eating things that I can live with out anyway. I'm answering my question practically, but like a novice body builder/athlete (cardio sports) I need some guidance. I appreciate it.

Yes. That book is like $35 and it's an awesome reference and it actually has real, no B.S. methods for changing your life. Not only does it explain some basic health and nutrition information but it goes on to give meal ideas, schedules, how to calculate calories, means of testing your progress...

It's not one of those books that gives you a general idea and then you figure out the secrets. It's that 80% of nutrition that everybody thinks people should know, but apparently nobody really does.

Not only have I found it to be a good read, but once printed, it's a great reference book to go back to and grab quick quotes from or a few ideas.

Out of all the e-books and nutrition books and magazines, I have been most impressed by this one. No big secrets but very well worded, an easy read, no B.S. and step by step how to's.

I think nutrition is a great direction to move towards and this particular book is great for the novice or the advanced person who just needs a quick reference.

Just to really get going with BTF, I just need dumbells right? And as I progress I can join my local gym or something?

Hey, I noticed the tracking in your journal stopped. What happened? Have you hit 200 yet? The poundage was looking good and I am curious how the shoulders are doing?

I dropped weight over the holidays.. flu.. eating.. so I went down to 183.

However, I didn't seem to lose much if any strength. Making me think I've lost a considerable bit of fat!

Still working shoulders on Saturday with back. Nothing too crazy. Just some military presses to the front and dumbbell presses. My right shoulder has a twinge.. not rotator cuff but if I do to heavy it does not feel great.

Funny thing is.. poundages are almost if not better then before.. just about 12 lbs lighter. Smile

I am glad to hear that you fought off the flu with little loss of muscle or lifting poundage. I am careful with shoulders too but I plan to focus on them over the next eight weeks. Trying to improve symmetry and get the lateral heads to grow. Must be nice to have a problem gaining and maintaining weight! Smile Y make me sick! Smile Just kidding.

Actually it's quite depressing, who want's to put this much effort in to gain 2 lbs a month? Keep pushing MDA it'll come back and even better this time.

Freaky thing was.. I did my max of 290 on the bench a few days ago.. and I was still recovering. I think this new program got me excited and I didn't really care if I was sick or not. Thanks bro!

Oh I did.. just not updated my journal lately.

But yes.. been back.. doing the Critical Bench routine. It's going great.

The flu actually was helpful as I got slightly cut. Smile It's a secret technique to losing weight.

As you can see.. I do most of my updates in the Critical Bench thread. It's all about the bench.

As far as the other body parts are concerned, I am in a maintenance mode on those. 8-12 reps. No big records. Sore but not smashed like bench day.

Once this is over.. I'll have to start putting my updates elsewhere. Like here again.
