Hey man...your in for the best sport of your life....
As a wrestler of 5 yrs, I recomend lots and lots of stretching and cardio.... To be a great wrestler you need to be in all around great shape, you need to be quick, strong, flexable.... If your school has conditioning before tryouts (mine does) do it...You will learn the basics and get a little taste of it..One other thing...wrestling, like bodybuilding is a commitment not a hobbie.... anymore ???? just ask...your in for a treat.

Well, conditioning is a school thing. Ask your coach when it starts ( usually starts a month before wrestling). Dont worry if it has already started, your coach will let you come. Now... conditioning is where your coach will show you some sweeps and takedowns stuff like that, he will also make you hit the wieght room:). Now the most important thing about conditioning is this... The coach holds conditioning to see what you got, see if your FAST, STRONG, FLEXABLE. He will also see if you complain and if you have good motivation and attitude. So, just because its not the real season doesnt mean dont work you @$$ off. Now... If I were you, I would go to the coach and say " I have never done this before, can you show me some basic stuff ". Anyways, in sence you've never done this before, you will get pinned you're first couple of times because I'm sure most peeps you will be wrestling will have done this before, so dont get discouraged, GET PISSED...hehe.

Few words of advise:

Your mind tires before your body...

Dont just workout at practice.. go home and do your bodybuilding workout as well.

Dont work for rewards, work your ass off and rewards will find you.

Anymore ????

well... your at 170 right but you want to go down to 160... you have to remember you will loose  your wter weight before the match ( your coach will make sure of that ). So.. I'm sure you be in 145-160 or 160+ , you never know dude. All dapends on what you weigh that day.

oh yeah..this is important....there will be a couple of people in each weight class , but only one guy can wrestle for each class so..in orde to wrestle in the match, you have to beat all the people in your weight class. Your coach will arrange that in practice...Buy a book on rules and moves...

Hey JayCutlerfan... be sure to check out your man on Talk Radio on Bodybuilding.com on Monday night.  I usually check it out on Tuesday or wednesday because you can download the archived file.  I'm sure they will get into all the good questions... I love that show.
