Eating good is awesome, but how are you eating along lines with your workout? Before or after? (if that makes sense, I worded it like crap lol)

Get your hands on a good protein shake powder- It's a must have. I'm using designer protein right now, no complaints. 3 shakes a day, 2-3 scoops per shake, tons of protein.

I'm eating before every workout. And for after, i've been reading lots and it seems that it's a good idea to take a protein shake after the workout, maybe an hour after or something like that. I'm lookin for a protein powder that will have around 50-60grams of protein per glass (that's of course with whatever serving it has ex. 4 scoops). What would be the "best buy" for that? or is it all basically the same?

I know for a fact that you should drink something immediately after your workout to replenish what you have taken from your body.

Eating something with complex carbs an 'hour' before you go to do weight training is pretty good, it allows it to get into your system and not 'hurt' you from working out on a full stomach. (This one I guess is more of an opinion)
Hope I helped you out there.

It is often called "the window of opportunity" and it closes 45-60 minutes after your workout, this is the time when you should up your insulin and replenish your glycogen storage, protein during this time will help recovery and if i were you i would add 2000mg of ascorbic acid and 200-600 mg of acetyl-cysteine too (generally you don't have to worry about glutamine, the doses are high enough in any protein)

Other than that... it is basically condensed food, do you eat enough? then just use a whey isolate and a sport drink after workout, with the asc.ac and acetyl-cysteine i mentioned...

(funny thing, you know how it is recommended to eat chicken soup when you got a cold, guess which amino chicken has lots of... yup, cysteine, old tales turn out true when science finds out about them)

The oil based anti oxidants you can take at any time (they are stored anywayz), it might be a good idea to up them though, if you are putting loads of stress onto your body you will need more of them...

Do not buy a weight gainer because most of the carbs in there are basically just sugar. Try and just get some whey powder or casein(casein is a better choice but you cannot take it post workout as it digests slowly). Primarily though you have to eat more to gain more. A supplement is called a supplement because that is all it does, is supplement your diet.

I have seen quite a number of posts asking about supplements, and then the diet of the person asking, isn't correct for the gains they want. I guess a lot of people realize you can get pretty much everything you need from food. calories are just a measure for heat. You remove these 'calories' by converting them into heat. Those weight gainers have calories...The food in your fridge has calories. Just make sure you eat clean foods.

Yeah, the more time I spend on the Nutrition and Supplements fourms, the more I feel like people asking for supplements should be thinking more about improving their nutrition instead. Protein powder is just a way to make getting the best food a lot more convenient. By now it seems like all the "supplements" I read about are retreads of stuff I saw years ago. It amazes me that they still seem to put Chromium Picolinate in every wegiht loss formula they make, when the actualy science seems to indicate it only helps people who are deficient in Chomium, generally the elderly.
