Pro-Hormones vs Steroids - Wednesday, June 04, 2003 12:15 PM
To my members.. this thread is going to be dedicated to those of you who just want to know what the difference between pro-hormones and steroids .

What this thread isn' t:

It' s not where to buy steroids
It' s not how to take them
It' s not which pro-hormone stack to take
It' s not what pro-hormones work or not

What this thread is:

What' s the difference between an illegal steroid (or just steroids in general) and legally purchased pro-hormone products?

With that said..

Let' s see if I' m correct in assuming for the discussion:

Q: What are the major differences between pro-hormones and steroids?

Prohormones differ from steroids in the way that they are inactive when you take them and you body has to convert them into the target hormone. So there is a natural regulation, and that means they are not dose dependant. you could take a bottle every day, but It wouldn' t do you any good.

Steroids on the other hand are just injectable hormones(or oral) the more you take the greater the results. And what you take is all the unbound form that will create this anabolic response with out a whole lot of training or strict nutritional habits. You can lift 1/2 assed, eat a " High protein" diet and grow like a weed. But when you stop, all of the comes to and end

Prohormones still require the hard and heavy training and I would suspect the muscle gained is a result of training more so than the product itself.

Not really. I was with you in the beginning, you lost me in the middle.

- Results from PHs are dose dependant, though at some point there are dimishing returns.

- With either, results will be more profound when dieting and exercising properly. Indeed, on either you really need to train and eat better. As they increase protein synthesis, protein intake should be higher. As they profoundly impact recovery, training should be more intense and more frequent.

- You forget 1-testosterone, which is a legal supplement. It is basically a steroid and does not convert in the body, it is the end product. The rest must be converted.

Prohormones still require the hard and heavy training and I would suspect the muscle gained is a result of training more so than the product itself.

This is dead wrong.

So am I to assume the gains from pro-hormones are mostly from the supplement and cycle itself rather then the hard work?

You tell me. If someone gains 5-10 pounds of pure muscle, and 10-20 pounds of bodyweight (muscle, fat, and water) in say 4-6 weeks would you expect the majority of that to be from training and diet or the addition of the hormone?

Addition of the hormone..

Which means.. if you quit.. (can' t afford it, bad cycle, bad experience.. whatever)

Kiss them goodbye.. as your training might be intense..but you' ll lose that muscle mass.

Which in itself is depressing (or can be).

P.S.-- Interesting idea.. I should create a genetic potential thread in the Out of Bounds forum....

No, with proper off cycle recovery you should be able to retain most, if not all of your gains.

So then new revision of the statement:

1) Pro-Hormones are dose dependent.. to the extent of diminishing returns.

2) Pro-Hormones still require hard and heavy training but I would suspect the muscle gained is a result of the introduction of the hormones more so then the training itself.
