100% whey
-
Wednesday, July 27, 2005 10:19 AM
ive decided that im gonna significantly increase my protein intake (approximately 200-225g of protein a day....i weigh around 160-165lbs) along with cell mass after workouts. i take MM but its so expensive so ima only take 1 serving a day after work outs and ima take 100% whey throughout the rest of the day. ive narrowed it down to 3 choices....Optimum 100% instantized gold standard whey, Prolab 100% whey and EAS myopro whey theyre all around $30 for 5lb which is easy on my wallet, but i need ur suggestions on which is the best choice out of those 3 and/or another whey or whey isolate that is relatively cost efficient. thanks guys

Optimum is good stuff man. The double chocolate flavor tastes exactly like chocolate milk.

justincredible.... since the optimum is dirt cheap compared to MM i was gonna take optimum like 3-4 times a day in addition to the 1 serving of MM a day and a good diet along with cell mass to put on lean mass......good idea or no?

Cellmass and Muscle Milk are two different kinds of creatine. I would finish up the Muscle Milk first, then use the Cellmass. I have no objection to using Optimum 100% Whey 3-4 times a day. I mean, why not? It's high quality protein and it's dirt cheap.

what would happen if i took the MM and cellmass together? cuz the MM only has small amounts of creatine compared to the amount of protein it has and im tryna stack up on protein intake to build muscle...wat do u think

Nothing bad would happen, it'll just be cheaper to use one or the other.

What would be the difference between taking two scoops two times a day or one scoop four times a day? If you double scoop is it less bioavailable because you're forcing your body to absorb more protein at one time?

my aunt said getting a ****load of protein in a day does something bad for your kidneys. i dont remember exactly what she said. also i got a question about calories and protein. is it alright to right away start taking an extra like 1000 calories a day and an extra 150 grams of protein a day or should you start slow like getting 500 calories a day and 50 g protein a day for about a week, and then slowly ease up to the bigger amounts?

If you double scoop is it less bioavailable because you're forcing your body to absorb more protein at one time? Your body can only use about 30-40 grams of protein in one sitting. So it's better to spread your protein intake throughout the day. I use a scoop and a 1/2 per seving.

I would recommend getting the vast majority of your protein from food rather than shakes. Just increase your protein and calorie intake gradually as your stomach expands and you're able to eat more food.

In response to the kidneys concern, Ive heard from friends who are Dr's that they body can only metabolize a certain amount of protein in 1 setting or 1 day... If your intake is far above this, it cant process all of it and could lead to kidney stones. For bodybuilders, however, who are taking in protein commensurate with their body weight, or even a bit more, it should be ok. Im not a Dr, so i cant verify if these are true or not, but its just what i have heard.

Just drink lots of water, thats what i heard keeps that from happening, and so far ive been drinking a gallon a day for 2 years and my kidneys are fine. Have been taking protein powder for 3 years.
