I have 8% of fat and I' m still fat?

Well, today I measured my fat % level for the first time. It was a digital gizmo that takes your height/weight/age/sex, then you hold it with both hands infront of you and it tells you how much % of your body is fat. I have no idea how it does so (maybe you can enlighten me), but I got 8.1%. How should I look with that amount of fat? I still have some fat around the midsection and my abs show a little when I don' t flex them(too little). I don' t know how accurate that machine is, anyway. 8% always seemed very low to me, but I guess I' ll gear towards 5-6. I don' t want to see or feel any fat at all.

8% is not fat at all. Probably what you are seeing is skin more then anything. I am a very small guy, and carry 9% year round not even dieting. That' s my natural bf%. And I am already too light, and need more size, hence more bf%. So by all means, you are NOT fat.

It could be that your body is storing a lot of water (drink more water and avoid sodium to lose it) or that you don't do much ab work. Of course, it's tough to tell body fat percentage from anything that doesn't take skin-fold measurements. Don't take that data as much more than a rough estimate.
