Ummm.... yea, I would say warming up is important. I think when you first start working out you feel invincible!!! I know I did, you can do 25 sets of triceps and walk away feeling great. Just banging out extension after extension with no regard for joints or ligaments. Until you are driving in your car and notice a huge sheering pain shooting up your arm from your elbow. That's one of my brief blunders of not taking care of my body... I actually had to switch to my left hand while using the mouse at work (wich I still do) because the pain was so bad.

My two cents is to treat your body with care and respect, because this whole lifting thing is a lifestyle and longevity is king. I would say light stretching and possibly warming up on a bike or something to get the blood flowing in your body is a good thing before hitting the weights. Pryamiding up in weight is a good idea to get a idea how your body is going to handle the weight, etc... Also, if you are in cold and then going to the gym, make sure to keep covered up and have your body warm. When your body is cold all them joints feel all brittle and you really need to keep them warm to avoid injury. Injuries suck, cool post man.... be one of the smart lifters who can learn from others and not personal experiences. Later

no, just in the sense about the supposed myth about weight training effecting height. i mean i like to push myself but some people say that doing that at age 14 effects or stunts growth. so i was interested in knowing your opinion in that issue.

thanx

im saying all this from a safe perspective, i dont want to put you off wot u wanna do, if u wanna hit the weights hard now, then do so, lee priest has been doing so since 13 wen he won his first BBing competition,

what do u wanna achieve, the physique, the strength?, the fitness?? wot r your goals?

i want the strength. what are the chances of me getting hurt doing weight training at the age of 14-15?

well i'm always getting hurt from doing stupid stunts but....  when working out i always first stretch a little, run a quater mile, stretch some more, warm up with small weight....then lift.  After lifting i stretch a little more..  remember to keep good form and not to use too much weight.  thats how alot of people get hurt trying to do alot of weight with a horrible form.

I decided to join the Army when I was 17. I did extremely well on all of the written tests, but did so poorly on my physical that none of the services would touch me.

My problem? I was a physical "late bloomer", they told me. At the age of 17, my bones were still as soft as a 15-year-olds, and not fully developed to the minimum requirements for military training. They advised me to come back in a year and have my bones checked again, and then only maybe would I pass.

Bottom line, don't be in such a hurry to rush into a short-term goal that you risk permanently damaging something that you'll have to deal with for the rest of your life, something that may prevent you from ever achieving your long-term goals.
