your body does not need 100grams of sugars after a workout! lol...i'm pretty sure most ppl don't even consume that in a normal meal!

insulin levels are gonna spike

lol

which is EXACTLY what you want after a workout...insulin is the most anbolic hormone or something like that.

some bodybuilders take insulin to shuttle more nutrients into the muscles

Yeah thats a nice backalley to ****ed up pancreasville

You want an insulin spike yeah, but not a huge one like that

You have to be in a neutral zone with blood glucose levels.

Too much sugar thrown into the blood stream and your body releases more insulin to combat that and stop you from having hyperglycemia, hence the insulin spike.

But then your blood sugar temporarily experiences a low, not quite near hypoglycemia I don't think but close to it, and either low or high, both of these are fat-storing zones and 'I feel like crap' zones, you need to be in the neutral zone with blood sugar.

You want a professional tip? Post-workout, go one step above and beyond your normal carbohydrate intake (preferably the first bits of it higher GI), only one step, that's all your body needs to recover your CNS in haste. No need to go overboard.

No they don't.  Some of the older bodybuilders used to take insulin in an attempt to lower their bodies insulin needs, so they could cut up easier pre-competition.

thats nice, he must be 520lbs if hes been training for a year, also he mustve started off at a decent weight already, so 750lbs maybe?

10lbs is a lot of weight creation, even with steroids and growth hormone thats a silly number to be throwing around in a week

I have read more about the 100g hi gly carb thing since posting the question, and all body building diets I could find called for a hi glycemic intake after your work out in order to spike insulin. Some called for more then 100g, but none said less then 50g (the amounts suggested seemed to depend on where you were at in your training level 50g for avg guy 150g for a monster)

I did find that an apple is a low gly carb, its index is a 49. For post work it should be above 70 like a banana (90), pineapple(94) Bagel (103)

So if you ate an banana(25g) and a bagel(59g) you would have damn near 100g of hi gly carbs. and a banana and a bagel would be a snack for a 250lb guy at a decent BF% that was trying to gain mass.

Are you a type 1 diabetic? No? Then don't use it.

Plus, how the hell do you propose you'd get the insulin prescribed? If your pancreas works and your immune system doesn't suppress it then don't try and screw things up.

EDIT: Sorry, just had a poor recap of the thread in my head and just assumed you wanted to start injecting after mentioning this other guy who does it, my bad.

But in any case, don't think about it. lol

Yeah I know, but everyone was acting like 100g was a crazy amount, its not taking 100g of sugar, its getting 100g of carbs with hy gly sugars in it. and an apple is no good, its index is only a 49, post work out should be 70 or above. Black beans for example have a index of 92, and you could get a 100g in I think in 1-2 cups. But the only time it says to eat carbs with  a index above 70 is right after you work out, so it would not hurt your blood sugar at all.

A F*&^ing banana only has 25g of carbs and a apple is not a HI GLY carb, wait let me rephrase that, is not a F&*(ing HI GLY carb. The F*(^ing INDEX of the food has to be higher then 70, not the combined INDEX of two foods. A F*(ing simple break down would be..

BANANA (GLYCEMIC INDEX 90) 25g of carb
BAGEL (GLYCEMIC INDEX 103) 59G of carbs

RESULT= 84 F&^%ing grams of HI GLY carbs

The apple instead of bagel would not give a equal insulin spike......I mean F&*^ing insulin spike.

Damn it, why cant ppl COMPREHEND what they read.

you dont NEED 100 grams of carbs!

Also, an apple isnt made of one type of sugar, the GI is the AVERAGE from the whole range of sugars.

an apple and a banana is FINE.

your body has a maximum blood glucose level of around 7 grams in the entire body, 100 grams is POINTLESS
