Nic you said lateral and bent over raises. You mean Dumbbells right? SO I ask you, what will these exercises do that an overhead standing press can't do?

I am of those who don't do OH presses anymore, I had this pain in my shoulders and since I stopped doing them I don't have the pain anymore. I switched to specific exercises. A lateral raises will work the lateral deltoid which a OH press won't. A bent over lateral raise will work the posterior deltoid which a OH press won't...etc. OH presses work more with the anterior deltoid. Which is why I use a wide grip front BARBELL raise to work the side area of my deltoids. It focuses more on the side of anterior deltoid and the lateral deltoids.

He is right about the anterior deltoid being worked, but the middle delts get worked just as well. this is a compound movement that involves many muscles, primary, secondary and stabalizers. There is no substitute for this, you can do shoulder isolations all you want, but you will see the best results adding OH press to your routine. Gottabefit But really am I the only one getting all the Count Dooku images? no, i get them too. i guess we just keep getting pwned. also, i've found that since i've been doing standing OH press and power cleans in the same day my traps really get a good workout. on your OH you should really make sure you are basically shurging at the very top. and well power cleans are awesome. it really is a shame people don't do them much. since i've done them, i've added about a 1/2" to my verticle and have not been trying too. i just noticed when i was fooling around outside at my basketball goal and could touch higher than i used too.
No the leg press is not the same as doing squats.

Acujeremy What about decline shoulder press? You just have to worry about building up as much strength as you possibly can with the routine you are doing. Once you have done that, if you decide that you are lacking in certain areas such as shoulder width, upper chest, biceps, etc... whatever.... then you would start adding in extra exercises like this or the ones that the others suggested (depending on where the work is needed). For now, just keep doing what you are doing and eat a lot. You have crazy amounts of growth potential.
Squats are better than steroids
