Re: RE: Wyrms' Journal - Monday, October 06, 2008 8:32 PM
Reading your journal Wyrms has really elucidated how bad my own diet is.

I currently am trying to shun the white bread, chocolate and potato chips. If I cheat now and get a take out I try to get some fried chicken which although pasted in saturated fat is still chicken nonetheless.

I find the problem is trying to find healthy foods which are as satisfying to taste and as convenient to get ; I suppose I just lack discipline.
Currently using Mri black powder, BCAAs, animal cuts, beta alanine, milk thistle, Cytosport whey, ON casein, Zmax, T bomb II, flax seed, carnitine & conjugated linoleic acid. Going to hit M-drol in the new year.

Just take it one step at a time with your diet, make a slow gradual progression rather than try to make one big overwhelming jump from one end of the spectrum to the other.

And don't beat yourself up about it too much, especially if you're on a bulk.

Also, I really appreciate you taking the time to read up on my logs, lol. Thanks. :)

D-DOUBLE POST...

Today was an extremely productive day but without the productiveness would've been complete ****.

Work sucked major dick and I am getting closer and closer to being the quiet guy who suddenly kills everyone in the store... Anyway,

Upon finishing my shift at that Godforsaken sh1thole, I did some homework! Then I WORKED OUT LIKE A MAN! My Power Cleans have gone up, I'm happy.

Great workout today, best one I've had in a while. Very fun. My abs hurt, a lot, mostly from Walking Lunges... And DB Rows... And Squats, and Cleans.

To everyone who believes solely in ab-specific exercises to strengthen core and build muscle - I give you the finger my friends. :)

Single Leg Squats and Stiff-Leg were good fun.

Deadlifts still my all time numero uno.

My whole body aches, moreso my entire core. Being taught PT has a range of benefits, everyone should be doing core functionality exercises rather than crunches and all that crap, I mean they have their place in the spectrum but stability exercises are about 100x more beneficial for everything, I solely stick by that now.

Also, GREAT WORKOUT! =D
Even did some HIIT afterwards, starting implementing that, I think I'm fit enough now.
I did 5 min warm-up followed by 4 intervals of 15:45. Good fun.

I haven't been able to workout in a few days and can't till Tuesday. Tomorrow I have a 12 hour day.

I haven't been able to because my middle finger on my right hand got infected and swelled up red, hurts like a bitch, it's dying down though. So just need to rest it off.

Amazing workout today. I've gotta say, this is one of my favourite programs I've ever written.

My Power Cleans went up in a few weeks from 105lbs for 5 reps to 118lbs for 5 reps. I think I'm gonna up the weight a bit more and try get 3-4 reps instead. See how I go.

Just gotta remember to have longer rests with Power Cleans than anything else so I allow for greater neural and ATP recovery.

Also, diet's been pretty spot-on. HIIT's also very fun, did it with rope today.

Re: RE: Wyrms' Journal - Thursday, October 16, 2008 5:39 AM
Workouts are great lately. There's a place I go when I'm alone, do anything I want, be anyone I want to be and the garage is just that place, my playground.

When I'm there, nothing matters, nothing but good form and rest between sets.

Deadlifted 240lbs on my third set for 6 reps, I felt I could've continued but didn't want to go to failure, especially with another set coming, and then more leg stuff. Made me feel pretty good though that I've kept my strength even after losing 4kg.

HIIT'd today as well, 4 intervals again, I feel really good right now, very physically relaxed.

Re: RE: Wyrms' Journal - Sunday, October 19, 2008 12:04 AM
Yeah I need a rant...

I'm not doing so well lately, mostly with finances but also with just daily living.
I'm really not in a good place with money right now... Finding it hard to get by even after a crapload of budget cuts.

The budget cuts are equally depressing on their own, went from meat to eggs and tuna, stopped driving as much, take public transport more often, still work my arse off at a crap job, still study hard, still putting all this time and effort to small things or projects or investments which don't go anywhere (trying to clean the pool, trying to get better at a game, trying to write more to relieve stress).

I saw my psych last week, we talked about a number of other things relating to anxiety.

My breathing's really effed in the a and the stuff he recommended isn't working too well.

I can't get over the fact that everywhere I go is a stressful environment, and in the few minutes every week where I'm away from everything all I can think about is how **** the world is.

I need a vacation, but I can't afford anything of the sort. Even if it were just a drive to the beach side for $200 for a few days, I can't scoop up that much out of anywhere.
This kinda really sucks.

Re: RE: Wyrms' Journal - Wednesday, October 22, 2008 6:06 AM
Yo.

2 days ago my friend signed me up for a 1 week trial at a friendly gym, I have a free gym membership at one in the city for my course and I mostly workout at home but this place is nice and I'm taking full advantage of it.

So I went there. Started Squatting, by the end of my 2nd set, I realised that my depth is a bit shallower than usual in comparison to when I workout at home so in future I'm gonna drop the weight and go lower, like I just argued in another topic... lol.

All in all, great day at the gym. Got a lot of funky looks from all the kids doing bicep curls when I was there, bigger than all of them, doing a **** load of Power Cleans. =D Felt goood.

I felt weird doing HIIT on the rower afterwards though, it just felt strange, I'm too used to running.

Also, after my 9 hours on postural assessment lectures I assessed my own posture and came to the conclusion that, like most people, my external rotators are long and weak whereas my internal rotators are short and tight. So I rearranged sets with my current routine to accommodate them and included stretches for my internal rotators (mainly chest, lats and glutes) at the end of the workout. + I threw an extra set of DB Rows on and focused on the squeeze at the top to strengthen my external rotators.

Tomorrow in the gym, right before training my client, I've got another workout to do.

I'm constantly just bastardizing my initial routine as I learn more so here it is now:

A
Squat - 2x 12,5
Overhead Walking Lunges, 2x 10
Bench Press - 2x 12,5
Incline DB Press - 1x 10-12
DB Rows, 4x 10-12 (Left arm first)
Power Clean - 4x 5

B
Deadlift - 3x 12,5,10
Barbell Rows, 2x 12,5
Pull-ups, 1x ?
OH press - 3x 12,5,10
YTWA, 2x10
Single Leg Squat - 2x 8-10
Stiff-Leg Deadlifts - 2x 10-12

That's...
A: 8 sets of legs, 3 sets of push, 4 sets of pull (Counting Cleans as Legs even though it works pretty much everything).
B: 7 sets of legs, 3 sets of push, 5 sets of pull (Counting Deads as Legs even though it works pretty much all your back and core muscles).

I don't expect that to change any further for about 4-5 weeks but I expect my diet to... As of Monday I start 12 hours (all-up) of fun lectures going really in depth about Nutrition! I am looking forward to it.

Expect a lot of crazy posts in Diet/Nutrition by me in near future.

Workout B today, YTWA kicked my arse... Gonna try it with much lighter resistance next time. Maybe with just 3kg, 5kg kicked my arse on them. My external rotators are stuffed though.

OOOOUCH...

Today for school we did a lot of PT warm-up stuff. Learned a lot of different ways how to warm up muscles, stretch things out and stretch out your TFL, Vastus Medialis, Vastus Lateralis, Glute Max, Lats and here's the fun part: WITH FOAM ROLLERS AND TENNIS BALLS!

Immense pain. I ache. Frack his shyt, I'm going to bed...

Oh my God those foam rollers kicked my arse. My entire core and all my body from hips down are in a lot of pain, can barely squat, and this is 2 days later. I was gonna workout today. :(

My diet was pretty good yesterday but I had a really bad day, so I did a fair bit of emotional eating at my cousin's house when we played Halo 3 online for 4 hours... A lot of cookies... lol

I've been having a fair bit of dark chocolate as well lately, I think I gotta cut back. And by a fair bit I mean like 3-4 of the little squares a day.

lol, 50-60% cocoa. Well it's better than the generic 20-30% cocoa stuff. :p

Dammit I wanna workout. Haven't done a proper workout since last Thursday.

Re: RE: Wyrms' Journal - Tuesday, October 28, 2008 6:16 PM
Great workout yesterday, it was well-anticipated. I am fingered. Gotta love Squatting.

My abs hurt like a bitch. I WONDER WHY?! :) lol

Also, I decided 2 days ago in a convo with VDK that, well, as much as I'm looking forward to summer and as much as I love being lean. F_ck it. I love progress more. I don't like sitting around cutting or maintaining when I'm nowhere near my end goal and I'm not doing anything about it.

So I cut out the HIIT and I'm slowly starting to bring up my calories.

Seaking.
