It is good to take before you go to sleep, i usually mix it with peanut butter or flax and if not take 4g fishoil with it to slow down the digestion even more.
But I generally just drop peanut butter cottage cheese and milk in a blender before bed.

Oh...

Casein is good to take before bed because it digests slow.It has been shown to keep amino acid levels up for up to 7 hours. It does this because it becomes gooey(for lack of better word) in your gut. But I take fat with it to try and slow down the digestion even more to help me get the other 2 hours of nutrition I need while sleeping. Which is great if you are taking it before bed because it will keep you from going catabolic while you are supposed to be recovering.

Hope that answers your question a little more thoroughly.

Casein is always the next supp. I recomend to people after Whey because of What HEARTS told u.
GNC Pro Performance makes casein protein but it only comes in 2lbs. Chocolate tastes like more a mint chocolate and it killed my insides and my friends for some reason. Now I use ON 100% Casein. Don't get bannana its horrible. Chocolate is downable, I have yet to try Vanilla. Use A blender it helps me ALLOOOOOOTTTTTTT.

some supp sites have a nightime/bedtime category that u might want to check out.

A. I would asume that "noobs" would've visited the spot where u posted previously anyways.
B. The supplement section may attract many ill-informed beginners but some of us aren't that come here.

In my opinion the vanilla is second best to chocolate, But I'm always partial to chocolate.

Casein protein breaks down slower and releases AA into your blood stream at a stready rate for a longer period of time than whey.

Most milk and cheese products are 80% casein, so if you did not want to buy powder then cottage cheese and milk are your best bet. Both do have some carbs from sugar (less in cottage cheese).

If you are going to buy the ON, then get chocolate and mix it with milk. I don't think either are particularly good in terms of taste but that really isnt the point of it anyways.

If you want to save money then I woud eat a high protein meal before bed, have a small glass of milk and some PB before bed.

If you are cutting then I would probably get casein and just have that before bed.

What about mixing ON casein with orange juice?  With a few ice cubes in the blender, it actually tastes pretty freakin good!  But I wonder if the OJ has any negative effect on it?

It shouldn't. I just wouldnt want a bunch of sugar before bed. Do you do that wiht the vanilla? Does it taste like a orange dreamsicle?

If an orange dreamsicle is anything like an orange julius, then yes.  And with a little ice in it in the blender, it is awesome!  Lucky for me, the sugar doesn't bother me, I can still crash right out.

LOL, I do that when snowmobiling.  I put my protein powder in ziplock baggies and throw a few bottles of OJ in my saddlebags.  When I stop to take a break, I take a swig of the OJ then dump the protein into the bottle and shake.  YUM!

I am waiting for the day I get pulled over and they look in my trailer, or even on the trails, and they find the baggies of powder!!!
