An ease into supplements
-
Wednesday, July 09, 2008 4:24 PM
I am just starting to get into strength training and have always been weary of taking a bunch of supplements. I would like some advice on what I am taking now. I do the No-xplode pre workout like 30 minutes before. I lift for 45 min to 1 hour then drink one scoop of Cell-Mass. Then I do my 30 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of Abs. I wait about 45 min - 1 hour and drink a protein shake (usually Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey) or eat a protein packed meal. I don't take anything except a couple Protein shakes on non workout days. What do you think?

yeah, BSN is garbage..... if you post your diet, we can see what you eat, and help you out. your diet is 90% of any goal you're trying to achieve

you have a 2 hour window after your workout to hit the peak nutrient uptake. You should also be using a complete multi vitamin, EFA's, and an antioxidant combo, at bare minimum.

Thanks for the advice. I do need to clean up my diet. I try and take in 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. But I work in a job somedays where you don't eat in a twelve hour ship. I usually take protein powder and protein bars to work. On my days off from work I eat really solid. Grilled Chicken, Salmon, Tuna Steaks, Eggs. I usually can limit myself to one to two protein shakes a day and still acheive my desired protein intake. I have read a lot about BCAA's. Are they worth the hype. And what can I supplement besides taking the BSN products....cause I like the NO-xplode, but haven't seen much from the CellMass..but I did just start taking it less than a month ago. I just want to get stronger with lean mass.

Two tips for supplement purchases: Buy it online and buy it on sale. www.bodybuilding.com is a good starting point for US and Canadian too with the dollar so good.

BSN is being sued for lying about what is in their products. I think it's been a year now since that started.
