slowing down carb absorbtion
-
Sunday, July 06, 2008 1:19 PM
say your eating something with a little bit of sugar in it like...milk or total cereal. If you ate peanut butter with it or something high in fat would that slow down the absorbtion of the sugar and create a smaller insulin spike?? How about casein protein?? I read once that the sugars in milk are slower absorbing than most sugars just because its in slow absorbing protein...

it really slows it down if you don't eat any nah, but i don't really know. there are two types of carbs; active and free. the free are better i guess if you're worried about carb intake since they fill the void of hunger when you're on a diet

The sugar that i get basically all comes from milk, whey protein, and the tiny amount in cheerios because ive been eaitng them lately.

yes eating sugar with a good amount of protein or fat will slow down the absorbtion on sugar thats why ice cream is considered low on the GI, it has 9 grams of fat and a good amount of protein
