Hi. I’ve had a regular exercise routine since I was twelve years old. I’m 33 now. Of course, my routine has changed and evolved over the years based on my circumstances. Recently I decided to ramp up my lifting and really strive to improve my performance. I’m 5’7” and about 158 lbs. About eight years ago, I was up to 172 lbs of lean muscle. I think I’d like to get back to something around there.

Hello, I am Sandra, I am a 30 years old artist very interested in body art. I used to train a lot and my body's shape changed to a very athletic way but I overdid it and it happened that my body couldn't take it anymore. But now several years have past and I would like to shape my body again. I am actually working out following the Olivier Lafay's method and I must say I really enjoy it. I am here to understand the feelings of other people, what drives them in such a way of life, and then understand if there can be a connexion between body-building and art as the way of living.

Hi Sandra, Welcome to the board. Loving the artist angle. I am just getting back to ME after over 20 years of NOT doing my artistic endeavors. Just invested in a huge painting package with tons of paint in all mediums, brushes, pallete, easle with drawer for stand up and table top, paint/supply case and tool box, trowels, sketch books for the diff. mediums, pastels, pencil crayons, water color pencils, color wheels, canvases.....you name it its in there. Not sure it comes with a big gesso can but I can get that local. I got this all for under 400.........almost 200 paints, some cheap some reeves.......I cannot wait. I never did get into it fully, just dabbled. I began reading again too. I look forward to learning more about you, we love new ladies on the board since there are a handful of us, we are overrun by boy cooties in this forum!!!! hahahahahah Linda

Hi my name is Matt. I'm in the military now and over these past six month's I have been hitting the gym here in Afghanistan. I weighed about 155 and gained about 20 pounds and noticed more definition. Now that I've reached my bodyweight goal of 175, I just want to keep lifting heavier weights and increase strength.

Hey all, My name is Bill. I've been practicing martial arts for the last 10 or so years, various styles. I started out in Taekwondo, then I spent some time training in each of the following: Aikido, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Hapkido, and Shotokan. The last 3 years has been spent focusing on MMA and Japanese Jujutsu. I've been strength training regularly for the last 4 years, but never really bothered to try and put up any real heavy numbers. Most of my routines focused on my own bodyweight. I'm 6'1" and weigh around 235 lbs. I'd like to get down to around 220 - 225ish. A year or so ago a friend wanted to see how much I could bench, my one-rep max was 305 lbs. I don't know what it is now, probably less. Like I said, I don't care so much about how heavy I can lift so long as my body is in good shape and functioning soundly.

Ok, my name is Kevin. I am 38. I have been working out on and off for over 20 years. Wow that is longer then I thought. When I first started to work out it was because I was playing football in high school. I was working out for strength and size and all that. My metabolism was like a streaker at a football game, fast, ha. Then I stopped working out like that. I figure working out that way was putting my body through stress it did not need to go through because i was not playing a sport. I was just going more for and still am going for a lean approach. However I do want to get cut again. I know I need to drop my body fat down to about 17% to "Pop." I am currently at 26%. I am taking this stuff called leukic. Will this help me drop body fat or just bulk me up. Better yet, what can I expect from taking this stuff? Right now I am 5'10 187. I was 215 back in February. But with my weight loss, I saw some muscle loss as well. So I came upon this stuff. Will this put the weight back on me, which I don't want, at all, or will it help me with body fat? I am flying blind here so anyone that can give me a heads up will be a friend for life, ha.

Hey Guys, I bet you can't guess why im posting to this. Well anyway, I'm 19, workin 2 jobs at this point and I'm a full time student. I stay pretty busy. I lifted all thru high school but it was never anything serious. I actually thought it was a joke now that i look back at it. I started to get a little bit more serious my senior year but, broke my hand and all upper body lifts fell way down, so i focused more on track. Before I broke my hand at 17, I was about 160 and my bench max was 250. not terrible. I quit squatting my sophmore yr at 400lb max cuz i put 2 disks out in my back. I then used a press machine or something like that for my legs. After I graduated I got very serious put my bench back up to 250 ish that summer weighing under 170 and then strained my neck really bad. I wasnt sure What i did to it but i finally went to a chiropractor after a while of hoping it would feel better and he put it right back into place. That put me out for a little while then i got up to college and it was a huge jump for me so I was not able to lift as religiously as I would've liked. Currently, I've been back at lifting for quite a while now. Seeing some gains, Learning and everything. I see personal training in my hope to be near future and already feel very knowledgable about what I do. I'm a very good learner when it comes to lifting, the body and etc. I'm open to all advice.

Hello, I'm Chris McCoy. I'm 19. I am full time student at San State and I tutor autistic children. I'm 5'11'' and 165. I have been working out for about a year. I look a little biegger but I pretty much look the same. This past year I have cut out soda, fast food and sweets but this has only made me slimmer. I packed on some muscle but it feels like maybe I've hit a plateau or I'm not eating enough. I eat about 5 meals a day. I have had oatmeal and eggs every morning for the past year. I take muscle milk after every work out. I work out every other day, somes back to back because the next day my body doesn't ache, I lift weights for about an hour and 15 minutes then run for about 40 45 minutes on the treadmill at 6.5. My goal is to have a defined chest and upper body, but mostly the chest. I would like to know what the best foods are to eat, anything except red meat and pig, in order to gain muscle and stay lean. Also, if I should continue the way I work out and what types of exercises should I perform to see my desired results.

My intro: I'm 24 years old, 5'9" trying to get back in shape. I used to post here many years ago, but forgot my username, so I re-registered. I started lifting when I was 19, and took it semi-seriously (as in, never for competition, but in the gym 4-5 times a week) up until the beginning of this year when I messed up my shoulders in Iraq. So I've been sitting around the past few months not doing anything, and woke up this morning with a sense of dread that I've thrown away everything that I worked for. I'm starting college next week, so hopefully I will be able to balance schoolwork with proper nutrition and exercise. At my peak I had 18" biceps (flexed) and put up 315 on the flat bench. I have a goal to be 190 lbs and around 7% body fat. I just measured myself...176 lbs and 14.5% bodyfat. So that's the starting point. We'll see how I do in the upcoming months.

Hi, I've been a member since 2003, but stopped working out for the past 4 years. I'm hoping to get myself back in the gym and into shape. I chose to come back to this site because of the knowledge and the support from all the members. It's odd how it feels like I've never worked out a day in my life. I have no idea where to begin workout or diet wise. I'll visit the site and get myself back in the know. Thank you 35Ectomorph (now 40y/o and 200lbs)
