Amino Acids? - Friday, April 27, 2007 12:25 PM
I have been using protein shakes for 2 months and lifting for about 6 months. I just picked up amino acid tablets and it recommends i take 4 tablets with every meal? any other suggestions on how to take amino acids?

alright i checked out the aminos it gots in there and its a wide variety. I am not to sure about some of them but it has leucine which your body uses during muscle recovery so you should proably take after work out. eat once after work out .also it has alot of aminos so 3 times a day should do it

BCAAs seem to work better especially in workout shakes-they have a good amount of leucine too which is a real nice.  The powder is awful though, barely dissolves and has a chalky taste.  I usually take three BCAA caps in the morning, preworkout, and post.  Apparently it helps with protein synthesis and muscle absorption? not sure how true that is.

Optimum Nutrition makes BCAA5000 powder. It's great, does not have any taste so you can add it to whatever you want, and dissolves well.
