Training for Skiing
-
Saturday, March 17, 2007 12:16 AM
Hi I used to be a semi professional ski racer and I need a strengh program to get strong again for next ski season. I wan't something which is 3 or 4 days a week. The program must be fairly simple with only short workouts no longer than 45 minutes and no complex or weird exercises. Squats are a must. Also I wan't to train each body part only once a week. I usually make up my own programs but I am bored and need something different to regain my enthusiam for weight training. Can someone either post their program or point me in the right direction. Thanks

I used to train, with aspirations to get into the olympics, for skiing. unfortuantly injurys caught up with me, but i have loads of really good workouts that you can use. The best training method is guerrilla cardio. it is a killer, but really increases fitness fast. also doing simple core work outs, focusing on pilates, really helps your core. also when ever you go to the gym , use the rowing machine and using the yoga balls.. i dont know the name of them! erm exercise balls? any way the big ones... try kneeling on them, then once you get good at that,,, try standing up on it, it will take a while to get, but core stability is a MUST for skiing! any way if you have any other questions just email me! i hope i helped!
what doesnt kill you,,, hurts like hell but doesnt kill you.

I have tried guerrilla cardio but couldn't maintain it as I really hate cardio lol. The ball you are talking about is called a swiss ball. I can stand on them and I use them for a few good core strength and stability exercises. I am more looking for weights related training.
