My own protein powder - Saturday, July 15, 2006 5:52 PM
Ok take some meat and dehydrate (beef Jerky)  just some low grade cheap meat you find at your local supermarket is fine.  Put this in a food processor and mix it up real good until it's like in tiny tiny pieces.

 You'll need some of this

  BCAA powder

Mix all these together in the blender and there you have it. Homemade Protein powder.

Jayman...I worry about you...have you thought about the shelf life of this artificial chocolate surprise?

At least it is rich in creatine!

Have you done this?

I think it is freaking hilarious!  I don't know why I just do.  Maybe I have a weird sense of humor.  I can just imagine the look on the members faces when they first see it. LOL

It wouldn't be as bad dehydrated though.   It would be nasty I am sure.  I wonder if it would work though for your protein needs?? LOL

It works...I did it many decades ago.

Nasty as hell but one of my lifting partners was telling me to eat the raw meat.

I loved making smoothies...So I though I would try to make it edible.

You wonder why there is no chocolate beef jerky?
What with salt and chocolate going so well together!

I used to make my own beef jerky- They sell food dehydrators at Campmor, which is just in Jersey, Steve- I'm sure if you checked around, you'd find something closer, or you could always order one online. Only thing that sucks about them, especially in this weather, is the amount of heat they put out.
I used to dehydrate most of my food for adventure racing trips that lasted more than a day or two. Cuts down on tons of weight to carry around, and you just filter some water from a nearby stream or other water source- Before you know it, rehydrated instant home cooked meal, out in the middle of nowhere. I've even dehydrated pasta sauce- Turns into the same consistency as a fruit rollup, more or less- But not nearly as tasty as one. I've had to eat that crap on the run sometimes, no time to re-hydrate it.

Heh, that was gross joke. Anyways, I used to eat jerky as a post work-out snack but stopped since they're high in sodium and some have MSG.

I also make my own protein shakes. This is the recipe:

4 jolly ranchers
1/2 a snickers bar
1 teaspoon of koolaid
1 carrot
a pound of melted chedder cheese
1 Big Mac, with extra sauce (the MOST important  ingrediant b/c its rich in protein and carbs)

Blend for about a minute and you got yourself one of the best protein shakes that can be made.

I think I'd rather take an old workboot and grind it up and eat it.  Probably taste a little better.
