Can somebody reccomend a inexpensive easy to find good tasting protein powder?
-
Saturday, May 20, 2006 4:07 PM
I'm having a hard time eating meat lately and I dont want to be high carb. so I figure one of my only alternatives is to start drinking my meals of protein. Best case scenario would be something I could find at my local grocery, gnc, target or walmart store. Thanks in advance. :)

I dont eat much meat either and it took a long while and a lot of waste of money to find some that I could tolerate that mixes good I use muscle milk by cytosport it tastes like a real milk shake I like strawberry best but use chocolate when I want change It also has lots of other flavers and is on sale most of time at GNC and cheaper if you got their gold card other shakes I try get really lumpy and taste funny and I end up throwing out but everyone has different preferances also I just use a shaker and no blender for it too thats why I say it mixes so well

Your best bet will be looking online. Go with the brand, Dymatize. Yeah O.N. seems to be the default "cheap" protein. Body Fortress is another decent cheap protein. I just picked up a 20 serving tub of BF Chocolate for under $13 before taxes. I believe Body Fortress can be found at Walmart.

Thanks a bunch for all the replys. Now at least I have some idea where to start. Its so hard for a person that doesnt like to eat a ton of meat to get lean.

You could try 100% whey protein in either vanilla or choclate they're both pretty good. or Mega whey extreme in choclate or vanilla which is also pretty good the only thing is that it's more expensive bout $50 without the gold card.

I got the designer whey chocolate. I like it. It has 15 servings for $10.99. The EAS was slightly cheaper with 12 servings for $8.99 but I had never tried Whey protein in water before and I liked that the Designer Whey had a satisfaction guarantee.

Primaforce Substance WPI is high quality, cost-effective and they have some quite novel flavours (grape and watermelon) along with the basics, Chocolate and vanilla bean. I am love Xtreme Formulations Ultrapeptide (a protein blend) in vanilla.

Cyto Sport - Muscle Milk taste great and is a great protein supplement but it is definately not the cheapest. Champion Nutrition has a good priced protein and not to mention, it too taste pretty good.

body fortress isnt bad at all...i get the vanilla and for 12 dollars for 32 servings thats a deal...its available at walmart..they also have glutamine for 9 dollars for 66 servings..theres a site i use to go to before i used them where they do an analysis on certain products to be sure they have what they claim in them and both the glutamine and the whey passed and were rated right up there with ON...the taste isnt as good as ON but not bad at all...i actually look forward to drinking it but i have grown imune to it maybe lol

you really cant use muscle milk as an after gym supp because it is mostly casein protein. but if you take it right before bed itll be effective, and yes it tastes really good. and as a suggestion for whey protein, gnc's mega whey extreme has a decent taste to it. it also has 60g of protein per serving which is to much for the body to use at once so u can split the servings so it will last a lot longer than 30 days like its supposed to.

My favorite is Champion Nutrition Pure Whey cocoa-mochaccino. Just delicious! The chocolate is good too.
