Taking the plunge on BSN Nitrix - Friday, April 28, 2006 11:25 AM
Well folks, the time has come!

I've been holding off taking any NO supplements until now, because I wanted to make sure I had a fresh, clean slate with regards to vasodilation.  I've already got better than average vascularity, and I get some pretty sick pumps from my workouts, so I'm bringing Arginine into my supplement stack to see what an extra .0003% of badassness can do

I've been working toward this point for the past eight months.  I set out last August 1st with a promise to myself that I would not face one more summer as a 130 Lb toothpick.  With that decision made, I have spent 3/4 of a year beating the ever-lovin' tar out of my ectomorph genes and leaving them in a bleeding heap on the pavement.  Now that Spring has springificated, and it's time to bust those short-sleeve shirts out of storage, I'm going to treat myself to a little supplement boost.  BSN, I'm calling you OUT!

I'll say it straight up front: I don't expect Nitrix to live up to even a third of the hype that surrounds it, and by now you should all be familiar with my love of objectivity.  So if I start gushing about how much cooler than cool this stuff is, you can darn sure believe I ain't kidding.

I'd have to say Nitrix is one of my favorite supps. It works really good, and gives an insain pump. remember to drink lots of water and follow the instructions on the back. Good luck.

Hey veggeep;

Since we all react differently to supps, Nitrix works well for some and not so well for others. Good luck with Nitrix. You may have better luck than some of us.  I took Nitrix for a few months but, really never felt any good pumps. I even stacked it with NO-X and still never had any good results.

Since then I’ve tried and have been using VNS-Jacked which is CEE/NO combination. That seemed to work for me but, then I added White Blood to the stack. I had this get up and go feeling, pumps were great and allowed for better intensity and endurance during my workout.

But again that’s me.

Peace

I was affected greatly right away by Nitrix.  My 1st 3 pills I took about 1 hour before my workout I felt my vessels kinda swelling.  Then when I worked out that day my bi's were incredible.  More indurence, stronger, I had to stop on heavier weight and more reps than I ever could have done becuase the pumps were so intense.  However towards the end of that month the effects werent as pronounced.  I still got great pumps, just nowhere near that intense.

Hhmmmm...  So this could be ballz diesel, or it could be another expensive fizzle?  HE he he he!  We shall see

My latest shipment from SmartBody Nutrition just arrived -400 more grams of Glutamine (which I notice BSN says competes with Nitrix for absorption... interesting), and my long-anticipated Nitrix

Ever the one to err on the side of caution (and not wanting to spend the day driving the procelain bus for pounding a new substance without having any idea how I'll react to it), I'm starting off today with just three of these horse pills -one per recommended dosing interval.  BSN indicates on the label that it takes (for most people) up to 14 days to feel the full effects, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Today is upper-body day, and those weights are looking mighty tasty right about now.  That's not the Nitrix speaking -it probably just my tan.  I tell you, throwing a little color on that hide really brings out the definition... Dizzamn!  I'm going to have to work extra hard to pry myself away from the mirrors in my home gym, LOL

Ha ha ha ha!  Thanks!  That was the "easy" part, LOL   Unfortunately, I hit the wall about three months ago, and I've been struggling ever since.

I haven't gained diddly since February of this year

Oh well, that's how it goes in this game   Take stock, strategize, re-evaluate, act.

Glutamine interferes with a-akg (Nitrix) absorption.
That is why is topped taking l-glutamine when i started taking a-akg.

Interesting indeed.  I'm rather enamoured with my glutamine.  Is there any safe time to take it?  Usually, I hit the glutamine immediately before bed.

But the label on Nitrix only says "Do not take glutamine supplements and Nitrix at the same time... keep glutamine intake to less than 10g/day..."  In other words, you can still take glutamine, just not while the A-AKG is vying for absorption.

How long after the last hit of Nitrix -THAT'S the question.

Then, to make matters worse, it's all about "take on an empty stomach..."  Yeah, RIGHT!  When is THAT gonna happen during a bulking phase??

Don't consume a shake or supplement within 2 hours before or after nitrix,so substitute a good whole food protein,poultry,steak,etc..I take nitrix,as well as a whey with glutamine, but I take the shake, just before bed, with like some cottage cheese or some casien or slow acting protein,to hold me over till morning, nitrix works if u use it right

no fools, listen
TAKE NITRIX 30 mins before breakfast.
and ~90 minutes before workout, 30 minutes before a usual creatine/pre-workout meal/shake.(this being 60 minutes preworkout)

IMO, glutamine is only needed when cutting to preserve the muscle mass.

Folks, I admit this is still waaaaaaay too early to tell if this this the Nitrix or not, but my arms are up a quarter inch since this morning, and I haven't done anything more strenuous than type posts on DBB.com!  I've never gone to bed more pumped than when I woke up that morning on a non-training day, but I swear to God, I feel like I usually do two hours after a workout.

There's no effing way this stuff kicks in that rapidly.

If this is to be expected on an "off-day", I can only imagine how sick tomorrow's leg workout is going to be.  I'm definitely gonna keep an eye on this

By the way, I had no adverse reaction at all to the first dose, so I bumped it up to six pills today.  Tomorrow, I'll try the recommended three doses of three pills.

SWEET!  First day on a full recommended dose (Cripes, that's a lot of horse pills!), with no gastrointestinal discomfort!  That's a relief   I was half expecting this stuff to give me raging migraines and a nasty case of butt chowder.

I'll hold off on a conclusion for at least another two weeks, but I have to tell you all that I scored a calf pump from today's leg workout -yes, that's right, I said a calf pump- that I have never experienced before   I'm talking about a ridge of something sticking out of the inside of my shin that looked like someone had jammed a hot dog under the skin!  A quick check of the anatomical chart revealed this to be my heretofore absent soleus.  I don't know, maybe I've just never noticed it before, but it went rather nicely with the sick quad and hamstring pump that I limped out of the gym with

Tomorrow is upper body, and being my first day back at work after a two-week vacation, I'm sure I'll have plenty of frustration to take out on my gym equipment when I get home.  Wish me luck!

Well, let's see... no complaints so far.  I hit an upper body workout yesterday that was wonderfully intense.  SICK biceps/triceps pump, and the kind of crazy, vein-popping madness that I've seen on my very best days...

but...

Nothing that I would consider screaming insane.  I'm still only on my first week of this stuff, and yesterday was the third day of taking the recommended dose.  Yes, the pump is noticably better during the workouts already, but they claim it takes a couple of weeks for this stuff to hit full effect.  For me, that "full effect" is the "All-day pump" that is so loudly hyped with regard to vasodilators.  I feel a little more pumped throughout the day than I normally do, but again, nothing screams to me quite yet.  There have been moments when I caught myself checking out a couple of veins on the inside of my biceps, where I don't usually notice them, but I'm wondering how much of that has to do with the fact that it's getting a lot warmer here in Northern Virginia, and my little roadmaps have a tendency to jump out during hot weather anyway

Awe, who am I kidding, folks.  I don’t need to wait two weeks to return a verdict on this one.  My evaluation of BSN’s Nitrix can be summed up in twelve simple words:

BELIEVE THE HYPE!

Okay, maybe it’s messing with my ability to count, but seriously, peeps.  This stuff is off the freaking HOOK!  If the effects continue to increase the way they have been for the past three days, and eventually reach some kind of plateau around day 14, then y’all are gonna have a hard time keeping my elation under wraps.  This is –quite literally- like the first time I ever used Creatine.  It’s THAT noticeable.

I’m still not walking around jacked up all day, like the ads promise, but I am definitely more pumped than I ever use to be before starting Nitrix.  And yes, the pumps during and immediately after a workout are filthy, rotten, stinking, downright STUPID sick.  Truly –you have to try it to believe it.

Now, all this is peachy for the sake of dialing in a last-minute edge on your presentation –I’m not claiming that this stuff will build muscle.  More like, it refines what you’ve already got.  Just stacking that little extra bit of vascularity on top of an already low bodyfat percentage is like getting 10 more horsepower for nothing.  And the “all-day pump” I’m seeing so far equates to about ¼ of what I normally leave a hard workout with.  Not “All-day insanity”, like some have made it out to be, but definitely noticeable nonetheless.  All of which makes for a powerful motivational boost that will have you craving your next encounter with the iron.

No, unfortunately.

Like I suspected, Vasodilators are really a "finishing touch" kind of supplement that is designed to take your appearance one step further.  Obviously, anything that inspires you to want to workout can only be good for helping you develop more strength, but it's strictly phychological at that point.  Arginine is not like Creatine, which actually has a function in improving contractile efficiency.

If there's any weight gain to be realized from taking Arginine supplements, it might manifest in the form of mild water-retention -like creatine, but not as potent.  Frankly, I think Arginine and creatine make a world-class stack, since the prolonged pump and vasodilation must be favorable to the cell volumizing effects of creatine.  Definitely use a monohydrate form of creatine if you want to get the biggest possible size and vascularity benefits.

mmm Nitrix... haha i took it... it worked a little, i mean my bench and powercleans went up but i never felt this "amazing pump" as everyone says but then again i work out everyday, so i guess im use to a pump... but it does work, i took 3 pills and later found out i needed to be taking 4 instead of 3... but drink tons of water, this stuff dehydrates. i suggest using Muscle Milk or some type of protein as well

Oh yeah!  You KNOW it!  I'm chugging almost twice the water I was before starting this stuff, and I'm still taking ON 100% Whey after workouts
