Dehydration?

Hi guys!
Just a few quick questions...
I heard that dehydrating before a competition can make you look more toned? I am a female model, is this true?
I am having a lot of issues toning my upper back and the back of my arms. I feel like I have done every sort of exercise, but its not working!
I dehydrated a little before my last shoot and i felt and looked horrible! This is a photo of when I did...sorry to seem to naive, but any advice would help!
Thanks so much!

Oh, and I am not really looking into bodybuilding or anything, I know that I need to tone in a HUGE way all over, but I am wondering, specifically because I have a shoot this upcoming Friday, and am looking for ways to prepare myself a little better before it.
I feel like my diet is really clean, and my workouts are well, but what kind of things should I be eating the week of a shoot? High in protein or high in carbs, lots of water, or little water?

Dehydration can be very dangerous.
So why do we do it?
The idea of doing it b4 a comp is to get rid of the subcutaneous(under the skin) water and become more vascular and defined. I would not recomend doing this on a regular basis.

Dehydrating helps, I notice that when I dont drink water much, I look much bigger. Also when I get off creatine I get alotta compliments from people that think I have gotten bigger.

I dont think I have enough tone to dehydrate! It just makes me bloated. I have another shoot coming up this Friday and am having one hell of a time motivating myself to get to the gym.....
But thanks for the imput! I think that drinking more water might actually help me look thinner and clean me out a bit too. Thank god for that ;)

Damn Kelli !! You grew up fantastic !!
I would not dehydrate myself before a shoot, I would just prepare myself to eat real good and decrease the sodium intake like a week before in order not to have water retention.

I knew a boxer (yeah not a model) who used to do some jumping rope,
sauna for hours
and controlled sodium intake before the tipping the scale.
Sauna is one great way of losing water.

You do not need to tone if you are working towards a feminine frame: you are already perfect.

If you are going to dehydrate, do it right. It can help. Females naturally hold more water. I wouldn't mess with sodium too much because the intercellular balance of sodium and potassium is so delicate. You look great and don't really need it but if you want to I wouldn't overdo it.
Precontest I increase my water intake. I keep it high for at least four days to let my body get used to processing that amount of water. 24-30 hours before show time I cut my water to 25% of what I was drinking. My body continues to process water as if I was still drinking the increased amount. You can also take Dandelion Root and Vitamin C to help in getting rid of the excess. Anything more than that is going to be overkill and un-needed. You look great. Keep up the good work!
P.S. I drooled on my keyboard too...
