thats all a part of keto brotha. you best carb up soon. I would suggest just cycling your carbs. like.. 1: Low 2: Low 3: High 4: Low 5: Moderate 6: Low 7: High Or something like that. A really up and down schedule with carbs makes your body ask wtf. For low carb days, try to take in practically no carbs or just post workout. For me I do just creatine as carbs on low days.

ketones measuring sticks are available at the medical, which helps u to identify the various stages of ketosis.

In all honesty those are not really the side effects of keto, or rather they dont have to be. Im currently on keto and i can say that my energy levels are even better then when i was carb cycling. i am a fan of carb cycling but with ketosis u dont have insulin spikes causing varied levels of energy throughout the day. its more of a constant supply of energy throughout the day on keto. if u have that bad of symptoms i honestly think they will go away rather soon when ur body gets more adapted to whats going on. give it some time u wont have any brain fog and ur energy will be up

Well Daniel does have a good point. Moving into ketosis usually has those symptoms, but once you are there you should feel fine. The bad breath thing will always be there, though.

I'd have to agree with Daniel, for two reasons. One, because my name is also Daniel, so holla! And second, cause Im going through the same ketosis and I feel GREAT and constantly energized throughout the day, with a newfound ability to sleep great at night that I never had while I was eating carbs/junk. What I would do if I was you would be to wean yourself off of carbs. So dont rush into ketosis. I would start my first two weeks by only eating simple carbs (in the form of fruits) early in the morning within 15 min of waking up, then before a workout, then after. Any other time of the day eat lean meats, healthy fats, and dark veggies. After this stage, I would for the next two weeks only eat carbs pre and post workout, neglecting morning carbs. then finally after this stage, I would eliminate all carbs throughout the week except pre-postworkout (tip I got from rollingstone) because you'lll burn the carbs up which contributes to your performance in the gym but you dont have PWO carbs to temporarily throw you out of ketosis afterward. I would say this should now become your final routine, except now, you'd add a refeed day of just starchy breads and avoid fat and sugar. Voila, good constant energy, always burning fat, and avoiding starvation with carbs at the perfect time. Just my personal reasoning. This brings up a question though-how long after eating simple carbs do you have to utilize them as energy before they are stored as fat?

(btw, still haven't noticed a change in my breath.)

It wont store as fat. The worst thing that will happen is you will get knocked out of keto. According to the tkd, the carbs should be eaten 30 min. to an hour before the workout.

Whoops, I meant just preworkout. and thanks Rolling. Today would be my refeed day if I didnt cheat on my last day of keto last night with 2 peanut butter brownies and a glass of milk. Im punishing myself by skipping the refeed until next week. Im sure that cheat meal caused a necessary spike anyway.

True. So I cheated on my 6th day, had extreme low carb on the 7th (only eating meat and cheese the entire day), and today had my refeed day since Im doing legs. That first bowl of rice krispies with skim milk was amazing. Then I had waffles, syrup, and more skim milk. Then I had another bowl of the same cereal along with two herb garlic muffin thingies that tasted a bit fatty so I only had two. The rest of the day I'll be eating oatmeal, breadd, and maybe ONE last bowl of cereal. Life is good on refeed day. I definitely think Im gonna change permanently from TKD to CKD, having only one refeed day a week and going sub-20g of carbs the rest of the week. Truly ketogenic diets are the ONLY effective fat burning diets for those with slow metabolims and stubborn fatty deposits. For 21 years Ive carried bodyfat deposits everywhere in my body even when all of high school and some college I ran extreme distances as part of the cross country/track team and still never burned all that I had. But two weeks on a TKD or CKD and the fat that my genetics have wanted me to store for years is almost completely dissolved. Now I wear 30 by 30 pants and they actually feel a bit loose.

CKD is where it's at. Nothing like rewarding yourself with acarton of low fat ice cream. Pedro, make sure you also are drinking a lot of water.
