Thats rough man, but you should be able to work around a broken pinky if you're smart about it.

I think that you can still lift all you want with a broken pinky. My friend got his index finger smashed to hell by a falling fire extinguisher. He still lifted all of his routine. The only thing that he couldn't do was shrugs. Keep going. Good luck.

yeah gaining back really doesnt take that long youll be surprised. i was sick for a month and and lost a lot of weight but gained it back in like 3 weeks so dont worry. why didnt you eat cottage cheese, yougurt or protein shakes you could of got those down without chewing... you can also get those gloves that have the hooks on them so it takes the presure off your fingers when doing shrugs. it looks rediculus but you could still lift

I wouldn't force it. Though it seems like the manly thing to do to just stick it out, and lift through the pain, you're going to be lifting with poor form, and you're going to further damage your finger. Don't make your decision as to when to return to the gym until you've talked to a doctor, and gotten a full diagnosis. a broken finger can heal in a few weeks, or it can heal in a few years, it all depends on how you treat it. If you must, ask your doctor about active casts, and maybe you can get a splint designed for athletes. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT continue lifting if it hurts the way it did when it "broke." You can cause serious lifelong damage to your joints in your finger. My $.02

Yeah, I've had carpal tunnel for like four years now from playing guitar and bass for a long time, and using the keyboard on the computer when I was younger and overweight obviously didn't help. Anyways, I didn't even notice it until I started lifting weights, and on curls my wrist would hurt like a mother. Couldn't do much for a while, but since then I've been able to work out fine without too much pain, I guess I just learned to ignore it.
