I think this is ok, the 72 hour rule is really for work each muscle group, so you shouldnt work legs and biceps on monday, then tuesday work legs and triceps. So you would be working legs 2 days in a row....which would probably be difficult with them still recovering :)

Timewithoutplace- That's fine. As long as you're not working the same muscle two days in a row- That's what you want to avoid. Plenty of us here work out five days a week, all in a row- Whether we're hitting each muscle once or twice a week.

So you would be working legs 2 days in a row....which would probably be difficult with them still recovering :) There are no "rules". The science of hypertrophy is shallow with little evidence to back up the many claims they swarm the bodybuilding world. The "72 hour" rule is a prime example. The most successful of bodybuilders employ a "double growth spurt technique". This directly translates to "training each muscle group TWICE per week". It's a common misconception and it's because of these rumour rules people don't achieve noticable hypertrophy. The only concern anyone should have with regards to training each group twice per week is CNS overload (assuming that the person is training correctly with free weights), in which case the intensity would be decreased in the 2nd session of the week. Sorry about that, I wasnt implying that this was set in stone. Recovery times are obviously affected by the intensity of your workout, as well as your body. My body happens to be comfortable with the 72 hours. I could probably push my chest, arms, shoulders and back to 48 hours but I dont think I could handle working my legs less than every 72 hours.
