Increase it by about 500 the first week, then 500 each week afterwards. If you eat 500 calories over maintaince per day you'll gain 1lb per week.

I usually go about 300 per week and it's spread over 7 days, so it isn't that big of an increase. After I hit my maintinance I stay there for 2 weeks to get my body adjusted to those calories and then increase by another 300 over maintinance and adjust from there. My buddy who competes convinced me it is easier to eat a little over maintance, unless you are a newbie, because you are not going to gain a pound of muscle each week and those extra half of pounds or more of fat add up.

Yeah if you are disciplined enough with the amount of calories you are taking in and meals are eating roughly around the same time everyday than you can figure out what it will take for you to grow. Eating way over maintenance is pointless.
