starting my neew routine tomorrrow after a week off , ive been lifting a year and half and i noticed that my shoulders hurt alot when i do chest routines , and for benching i dunno where to lower it , i hear on the nipples , below the nipples , just above the nipples , upper chest... and basically my new routine is this , 2 warm up sets , then one working triple drop set for the first two exercises and then rest pause on the db bench. with 4-6 sec negatives for all anyway i wanna know where exactly my hands should be/ where to lower the bar on these exercises ,. pec fly - incline on smith machine db bench i see alot of people use a high angle on incline bench , i use 45 degrees , whats the difference? and on incline where should i lower the bar , on the nipples , upper chest?... and ya pec fly , should i be upper chest or by nipples? and cna someone tell me what the difference with the smith machines , it says ont his routine to use a smith for the incline , dunno why

Don't use a smith machine. It takes away alot of the use of stabilizing muscles. As far to where to lower the bar I probably do it a little below the nipple or around the nipple, i'd say just do what feels comfortable, and that is probably the right place. The higher the incline the more shoulders you use. Think about it 90 degree incline is a sitting OH Press which is a shoulder exercise, flat is mostly chest, so the closer you get to flat or 90 degrees is going to work more of one of those muscles.
Goals by end of 2009: Bench 205 Squat 255 ATG Squat Clean 185 "There is no elevator to success, you must take the stairs."

For the inclined press, I recommend hitting it above the chest, as the point of pressure is where that should be. 45 degrees is what i use as well. IMHO, hitting it on the nipple on an inclined position would cause damage to your shoulders, particularly the rotators.
