this is something that i've just realized, and thought it would be beneficial to everyone to hear: if you are looking to cut, workout in the morning. You might be saying that's stupid, or i'm an idiot, but here is my reasoning. Insulin. that's basically it. just insulin if you work out in the AM, and spike your insulin level before and after your workout by high glycemic meals, then you're setting yourself up to be a fat burning machine for the rest of the day after your post workout meal, just simply decrese your active carbodydrate intake for the rest of the day. once your body falls below a "regular" insulin level, your body will begin to start taking stored fat and burning that off as energy. then, wake up, and do it all over again. sorry if some already had that idea, i just realized it myself. hope it helps. if not, oh well.

ORIGINAL: Soccerking3000 why do you think its the best time to do cardio when your first wake up? you don't even have to do cardio if you do this cycle of working out in the morning, spiking your insulin levels before and after your workout, then keeping your insulin level very low for the rest of the day, your body will resort to stored fat and shred it off. it might be confusing to some or some don't understand. sorry

He has a point but be careful it's not the same as cardio you need to have at least about an hour being up and about before hitting the weights because of your spine. Yea I agree on the morning part though best time to lose more fat for cardio and weight lifting but I rather leave the two what it does best and do it both. Lifting heavy to build that hard muscle and cardio to burn off unwanted fat!!!

Wait does it really matter "what" time you wake up??? Just as long as that's the first thing you do when you wake up is the same **** right? College semester is been done for me so I don't wake up early anyways.

If you are a morning person and can do it that's great. If not you are better off just doing it when its convenient, instead of half assing it or cutting it short b/c you are pressed for time. I tried running in the morning for awhile but it just wasn't working for me. I'm not a morning person and waking up at 5ish to run and get to work on time was killing me. I'd recommend running before you eat, instead of running right after you eat. Less glycogen stores to eat up before getting to the fat. Or doing some cardio after lifting. Same principal. Not quite as good as first thing in the morning, but still good.
Age: 26 Height: 5'10 Weight as of 8/31/08: 160lbs. Current weight: 180lbs. Semi-Clean Bulkin! Current Maxes as of 6/4/08: Squat: 250lbs. Deadlift: 255lbs. Bench: 285lbs.
