Something terrible has happened, today my bench broke. I have one where you can raise and lower it by pulling a tab and sliding the back up and down, and the tab just came out! But im too upset because i just plan on getting a new better one. Does anyone have a bench at home that works well? I' ld like one that can be raised at various inclines. Thx for the comments!

Nice bench.

No worries dude. You can get a new one.. many places that will work just fine.

Think of it breaking as a good sign. Good sign? What if you were under there with heavy weights, and the tab broke and the incline part fell..

Not good.

There' s a lot of good benches out there. But my advice would be to actually go to a store and test them out.. make sure it feels comfortable, the padding is right, the bars are sturdy and the pin is strong. Then you can search around online if you want a better deal. But this is a piece of equipment that you want to feel safe on.. the one below looks cool. If you like it, find something like that and test it out.

I just found out something disturbing about the bench I use at work- Seems like a good thread to mention it, since you' ll probably want to check into this before buying. I was resting between sets of bench presses the other day when I noticed a little sticker on one of the supports- It gave the weight capacity for the bench in flat, incline and decline positions. Flat was six hundred pounds, incline was lower (can' t remember that number) but decline really bothered me- It was only three hundred and sixty pounds. Sounds like a lot of weight, but at the bottom of the sticker, I was informed that the weights noted included the weight of the person on the bench.
I weigh 180 pounds, which means I would only be able to safely decline press my body weight on that bench. (I don' t really do declines right now anyway, but that' s besides the point, isn' t it?) Make sure you check out the load capacity for each position before you make a purchase, unless you plan on sticking to light weights.

Never thought of that.. GREAT point.

I did see one guy in our gym doing incline dumbbells. The support gave out.. he had the 130lbs in each hand.

Needless to say.. I' ve not seen him again.

Thanks cpl! Smile

Well, I fixed it, but unfortunatly I broke the spring that forced the tab in the holes, so it works but I have push the tab in to get it to stay, which sucks... So i guess i' m gonna swindle some dinero out of mi padre. I mean after all I did paint the garage...Isn' t that worth something? Lol with him, probably not!Smile
