i used to be like that brihead.  

now, while i'm still interested in BP... i also care about the dead/squat numbers as well.  still, the majority of the time, people say they "squat" a certain number when in reality.. it's an 8th of a squat.   and few people deadlift that i talk to.     sad sad sad


same here, i like to get my squat and especially deadlift numbers up but i am always interested in how much someone can bench. plus like u said if i ask people how much they squat they either dont do them or its a 1/8 squat. same with deadlift, i've only seen 2 other people at my gym do them.

i saw one guy do squats the other day and he was doing 1/4 squats with 225 which means he's actually weaker than me even though he's around 200lb., i almost respected him though just because he at least was doing squats while everyone else just pussies out

haha.. i call quarter squats  "knee press"...    it just looks so painful with all that pressure on the knee due to not going all the way down

I hear ya with the 1/8th squats.  The few people at my gym that actually do squat, only go way above parallel, and they use ridiculous amounts of weight.  I want to try and help them out, but I don't want to come off as "That guy that thinks he knows everything."  even though I am that guy, lol.  Maybe I'll start helping some of them.

i wouldnt unless ur significantly bigger than them. it'll probably just piss them off, but up to u obviously

Nah, there's not that many really huge dudes in my gym.  It's always new guys that are squatting (which is friggin awesome!!), but they just don't know how to do it (which is not awesome).

man this is my life at the gym.  When i do see someone acually trying to squat, i'm like that a boy.  Then i see him squat and i'm like i could help him, but i don't want to be that guy.  Probably why people just care about your bench press number is because 90+% of people don't do deadlift or squats probably.  using my gym as an example i have seen 4 people do correct squats and about 8 do incorrect squats.  I've only seen 1 person do a true deadlift and a few do SLDL.  It's so sad.

twisted, that surprises the hell out of me.  you are a genic freak i think.

good job connelly!  I remember getting my weight back in high school and being very excited for it.  And getting my body weight again when i started lifting again last year.

nice job on the lift connely. i tried to do bench when i was 13. couldn't even do 75.

twisted, i figured everyone knew about your bench problem by now. lmao, people in your gym must be surprised as hell. hey look he is benching 110.

then you go ahead and deadlift over 400 =(

excellent work connely.  i remember the day when i got my body weight on benchpress.  it was a glorious day i tell you... but i weighed a bit more than 110.  still. nice work none-the-less...    i  hope you have a new goal in mind now.     such as... BODY weight x 10 reps... or 185 pounds max.   either one is a decent reasonable goal that you CAN reach if you stay with it.

also.. don't neglect your legs.   train every muscle, especially your legs.   don't neglect them.



and twisted.  wow.. i'm shocked at your BP.   seriously..   you sound like the complete opposite of me.    i neglected my legs.. and it almost sounds like you halfway neglect your chest just b/c you don't care (i didn't care about my legs)

either way.. i think we need to morph our bodies together and then clone it.   that would be a beastly clone.  big strong UPPER AND LOWER bodies, and the best part.. is it would be lean.

whadda ya say... since it was my idea, i'm willing to do a 60/40 split on the profits here. (60% my way of course)

thank's man i acually already have a goal which is to get 135 while still starying under 114 lb and before i turn 14 so i have 6 months to get it.my birthday is december 31 but yah it seems like a pretty good goal staying under 114 lb will likely be the problem...

If you could get up to 6 solid reps on BP with 110 pounds in the next few months, you'll knock out 135 with no problem.
