humerus fracture

hello all: I am new here and realize that this is not a forum for humerus fractures, but just reading the posts here have made me feel that I am not alone. On 2/14/09 I fell off a bike and broke the head of my humerus in 4 places, it just came apart. went to surgery on 2/26/09.plate and 10 screws at top of humerus, doctor let me start therapy on 6/29/09 and here it is oct. and I am still hurting. every minute of every day, only when I am asleep and not moving do I not hurt. I have 125% active rom and 140% passive rom. just now starting on the rotation ( boy does that hurt). when I am in therapy and doing the excerises ( all are done by "hands on",no machines and even when I do them at home, it hurts. but my question to anyone out there, When does the pain stop". I can understand that it would hurt while you are working the muscles, but does it hurt just sitting. I can just stand and the weight of my arm makes my shoulder hurt, and just sitting it will hurt. Doctor says it will take about a year before it even begins to feel normal, but When does the hurting STOP? I asked him if everything was going okay and he said the bones had healed and look healthy but the bones could die within 2 years and your shoulder would really hurt all the time and that is how you would know that it died. I told him that mine hurt 24/7 and he said that mine was fine. So whay does it hurt. Please, am I alone or does anyone out here hurt all the time. I am finding it so hard to do the normal things in life and am getting so depressed. I do not take any drugs for the pain, stopped them when I realized what they were doing to me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am not sure really. My break was pretty much in the middle of my humerus. I had my operation about 5.5 weeks ago and have found the pain easing off a little more each day. If it is hurting so much though you are feeling depressed you should really take some pain killers I would speak to your doctor. Hope you feel better soon
