Ive been working on and off for almost a year, Ive made ok progress I think because my bench has gone from 150 to 175 since working out. What i do though is I work my muscles with one exercise consisting of 3 sets of 10 reps should i do more of these exercises for individual muscles like i will go on the butterfly machine at the gym but should i do more peck exercises that day or is one enough

well, first I would have to ask you what your basic routine is for a day and for the rest of the week.

If you are targeting JUST the chest area, basic exercises like the Inclined Barbell Press, Flat Barbell Press, Declined Barbell Press, and either Dips,Flyes or Crossovers are what some people typically do on a chest routine.

Cheers!

If you've only increased 25lbs in a year on flat bench, being a beginner, you're doing something wrong.. you should list your entire routine..

Key to increasing bench is not necessarily how many sets you're doing.. lots of other criteria are involved..

how long have you been doing that 3x10 routine? if its been a while, its time to change your routine to a higher set and weight.what you are doing is good for a certain amount of time..you have to change it up every once in a while.

bigger and faster gains? if you know that you are doing enough for your workout, maybe it's in your diet already.
